Everyone has Agency for co-creating reality
But our World AS IS, the Few rule the Many
The Many engage with Narratives(stories), Paradigm & Systems of de-Agency-fication (NPSDs)
that the Few control - that is how the Few get to rule the Many

Nonetheless, every person still has Agency - to decide daily, at every moment:
Whether or not to engage with the hierarchically-controlled NPSDs

When someone is intoxicated, s /he is self de-Agency-fied.
When someone chooses not to be intoxicated, s /he is no longer de-Agency-fied by intoxication

Another example: X/Twitter censors through shadowbans and is rife with chatter bots
Those who choose X/Twitter subject themselves to shadowban censorship & bot traps
Those who do not choose X/Twitter save themselves from such usurpation of their time & energy

Thus:
When people engage with the NPSDs, they are self-de-agency-fied
When people do not engage with the NPSDs, they are not self de-agency-fied

Everyone has Agency for co-creating reality
Everyone has Agency to decide: whether or not to remain de-Agency-fied
Everyone has Agency to decide: whether or not to be Re-Agency-fied

When the Re-Agency-fied > the de-Agency-fied, the Few cannot rule the Many

in any case, discarding NPSDs, clears the internal clutter and prevents re-cluttering.

Language (words and narratives) frames mindset

words e.g. "Evil", "Tyranny"

Even though they appear useful to describe the problem, the descriptor 'tyranny', similar to the descriptor "evil"- is de-agency-fying as it locks in the mind - constrains the mind - giving the idea power it did not have - and certainly not solving the condition it describes

Descriptors like "tyranny" or "evil" that depict issues in absolute terms can set up a fixed mindset, undermining belief in positive change.
Framing challenges as insurmountable problems locates agency externally, disempowering collective creative capacities for solutions.
Polarizing or adversarial language breeds oppositional thinking instead of shared understanding.

I think this label is what blocks people from seeing what is right in front of their eyes.

Notice also that my focus here is only on the Parables as recorded in the Gospel of Thomas - i.e. what they were intended to teach - and from the foregoing, the Parables are asking the audience to listen closely at what is being said to them - use your own senses and mind.

By reading the words and trying to match them against real life experience.

Why are we overthinking and putting words in Jesus mouth over this gnostic gospel.

Reading the parables uninterpreted and uncontextualized in the Gospel of Thomas,
I had the nagging feeling: "something is not quite right", and with just a little closer look, the discrepancies leapt at me.
At first it was one parable, then all of them.
That's how I came to the point/conclusion made in the post above.

I can continue with Sayings 96 and 107, but maybe you would like to have a stab at them.

Saying 8:
"The human being is like a sensible fisherman who cast his net into the sea
and drew it up from the sea filled with little fish.
Among them the sensible fisherman found a large, fine fish.
He threw all the little fish back into the sea, (and) he chose the large fish effortlessly.
Whoever has ears to hear should hear."

Jesus must have asked his fishermen audience:
"Tell me, what's wrong with this story?

A seven year-old daughter of a fisherman in the audience must have tugged at her mother's clothes and said:
"Mum, won't a sensible fisherman have used a net with bigger holes (i.e. bigger mesh net)?
That way the little fishies won't have been caught and frightened (i.e. traumatized) by the fisherman.
And, it would have been easier and faster to pull just the big fish.
What a silly fisherman.

And Jesus upon hearing this, would have declared as he smiled at the girl:
"This child has understood and spoken well. Be like this child!"

This Saying is simply saying:

In this post, I am posing a question on the intent of the Parables.

The first possibility: "perfecting" people (quotes added) - the intent: to moralize people based on the dogma used to interpret the parables - locking ("fettering") them into assigned positions pre-determined by dogma

The second possibility: "perfecting" the parables - the intent: to elicit retorts from the Listeners / the Audience / the People: "Something is not quite right!"
Next, for the People to point out what is not right AND what should be right Ultimately to demonstrate: Agency is innately with the People - specifically for critical thinking - thus freeing them from dogma.

There is a third possibility I have alluded to in the post, but we can get to that once we have sorted out the first two.

Forget the front page - there are too many un-modded subs
Just bookmark & go to two subs:
