I've been very depressed since Ellen came out. That and I just... see trans stuff everywhere all the time. Facebook, Reddit, everywhere I like to scroll mindlessly there's trans stuff every six posts it seems. Meanwhile who is talking about lesbians ever? Nobody, unless it's to tell them they suck and they should accept dick in their lives.

A documentary about a 8 years old transed little boy just came out in France and it's absolutely mind bogglingly outrageous. The mom has had a couple of girl foetuses miscarriages and she outright said she would be happier if her son was a girl. So of course the poor baby wants to please his mom. So he's being indoctrined into being a little girl and nobody.questions.it. in the documentary. And people drink it up.

I'm just so mad. it's starting in my country, nearly none of my friends agree with me, I feel immensely alone and discouraged. How long until they realize how harmful it is for women, lesbians, gnc women, and children? Why is everybody so blind??? How did that fucking happen? A friend of mine compared terves to policemen beating up black people. I yelled at her. At least she understood she went too far but man, it really shows how people have no fucking idea what gender critical people's points are.

I would advice against staying with him honestly. Something you will see time and time again in trans widows stories is that all the savings of the household went through gender affirming crap like dresses, manicures, way more lingerie than you'd ever allow yourself to buy becuse there's more important stuff to be bought, like nappies, and then down the line, surgeries. Some transwomen get as many as twenty surgeries and revisions. Multiple facial feminisations, adam's apple shaving, hairplugs, electrolysis for their hair, vocal cords shaving, boob job, and eventually, some do get the penile inversion. This is the money that is not going to go towards your children's future and your wellbeing as a family. Please flee.

So... yeah. Go watch saving face! They're both lesbian.

I'm of the belief that if you see an injustice or oppression and you're a good person you'll stand up for the oppressed people even if the individuals sometimes say unsavory things. People are human, and they're pretty dumb, but a group of people shouldn't be left to suffer because some of the individuals run their mouths, even if it's against you.

[–]Dravidian 14 insightful - 1 fun14 insightful - 0 fun15 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Multiple theories about that, as I've seen it unfold exactly like you have. I've also frequented that sort of people but I'm someon with ten thousands interests and no big huge all consumming passion, so I dab a little bit in everything and mostly do nothing.

My theories :

  • Time efficiency. The more you focus on one very special subject the less time you have to stray off it. So the more precise your hobby the less you're wasting time puttering about. Might make sense when your job is very demanding. Turns into obsession. Probably the least likely in most cases, though. But also makes sense when you have one buget into which you can pour money in.

  • Credibility and misogyny. Women's hobbies have always been seen as frivolous. Being a litteral expert in something might be a response to men mocking you, not trusting you or not believing in you. Usually ends up being unsufferable because so highly opinionated by defense. This encourages conformity because anybody who strays from the accepted praxis is seen as weakening the credibility of the whole group. When it comes to old timey things it obviously encourages a desuet femininity.

Finally, just trends. Corsets made a huge comeback ten years ago, then it was Rockabilly, extremely femining BJDs and dolls in general, then there was a huge make up industry boom. We're currently highly encouraged to be extremely feminine and that can push passions into the kind of things you've seen. Also there's more men that feel comfortable dabbing in fantasy clothing too, and with that comes to pressure to fall neatly into gender roles all over again.

Hope I've not missed your point entirely!

How can you say to people "she has valid concerns" when all they'll see is the man in a dress in her book?

Boy do I feel weird about sharing a sub with people who are considering voting for Trump. Are you seriously considering a dude who is letting 200000 people die of COVID, is doing his best to be a traitor and a dictator, is a rapist and a child abuser, better than a dude who might, MIGHT listen to TRAs on one or two points MAYBE??

You all really sound entitled. Long ago I posted on actuallesbians that I loved a lot of very different bodies, describing narrow hips and small tits and boyish figure - with my girlfriend in mind. I don't exactly remember why I said that, I feel like I was trying to reassure someone. Cue a trans woman telling me it's triggering to talk about that, thank you very much, etc. I was trying to be nice! You should be happy it read like I could like your flat hairy man's ass, yet you're still whining!

Actuallesbians really helped peak. The constant "lesbians CAN get pregnant", to me who is very child free and pregnancy repulsed, really feels like indoctrination. Like they WANT to get the lesbians pregnant. Ugfhjfh makes my skin crawl.

So far it doesn't peak her. As I've understood from her position she doesn't get what a woman is supposed to be and doesn't "vibe" (sorry, not English and very tired, so approximating here) with the concept. She doesn't care about it much, or nearly at all, but she also considering herself not technically cis because she has no idea what a gender is so she can't in good faith say she's a woman, even though she never says anything else either and isn't trying to say she's genderless or non binary or whatever. As far as I understand what she's vaguely told me years ago, at least. And of course I understand autistic people usually have each their own definition of stuff and sensitivities and aren't one whole thing with the same believes and views and perceptions or lack thereof. It doesn't help that she never has to interact with men except her own father, which she does only at arms' length, and was, and still is, very sheltered. So she doesn't feel like there's any tangible threat on women or lesbians. I gave her the google doc links about the compilations of tweets and stuff, and talked with her a lot, but she mostly shrugs and tell me to get off twitter. Frustrating. But she also doesn't care that I hold these beliefs, so... At least i'm not going to loose her, I guess.

Oh, closely related for me - someone that isn't out and that cares mroe about what her family thinks than how to be happy living her life with me. I've been with hesitant lesbians or bi girls that only wanted to live in the shadows and tell their parents they were dating a dude. I hated every damn minute of it.

My current fiancée told everybody that didn't accept her to fuck off and crossed the country to be with me. No pussyfooting about moms not being open minded.

I have a blend that I found in a store specializing in end of stocks and short expiry dates. It's whole leaves black tea with cinnamon, cloves, cardamom, and other spices, named "African Christmas tea" from a company focussing on tea strains and blends from Africa. It' the absolute best "chai" adjacent tea I know. With soy milk it's to die for. My stock is dwindling very rapidely, though. I'm gonna be so sad.

Also coffee with two opened cadamom pods in the grounds, and soy milk. It takes all the bitterness and roughness of "meh" coffees away and it's so smooth and amazing.

Oh and Yogi teas makes a herbal tea called "choco". It's carob, cocoa, cinnamon ad other sweet spices. It's incredible.

I don't care much for night life, I just want somewhere cozy to have book clubs, knitting sessions, LANs and tabletop game nights. I'd make the drinks and my girlfriend would curate the books and the art. There would be no men allowed.

I don't believe in "biological need" when it comes to sex. That's a gateaway for men to promote rape culture in my mind. We don't need sex to fonction. And lesbians don't use it to reproduce so it's also moot that way. I'm the only one who can make myself come and it's very mechanical, very physical, not related to anybody at all.

All good, don't worry. But I assure you it's not that strange. I get that you can't picture yourself not having sex but I promise there's more to relationships than sex. Especially since sex is not forever. Better make peace with it before old age or an accident robs you of it.

[–]Dravidian 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

I do, yes. I put it on dating apps and everything. I lost a very dear relationship because I didn't mention it before we got together and she couldn't picture not having sex. Even though I can have sex, it's just very performative. So it's disclosed immediately. And yes I consider myself lucky! I'm never frustrated because it's been a while and my pleasure is only mechanical and I can achieve it by myself not having to bother with anything else. Being with someone who doesn't mind (she's not asexual but according to herself she's "too lazy for it", which is fine by me!) is also a huge plus. I did start relationships with people that still expected me to put out. Huge strain. Always feeling like I was blamed for something or not loving them enough. Ugh.

What about friends with benefits, by your logic? Plenty of things I do and plan with my fiancée that I wouldn't with a friend, even my best friend. First in line being marrying her. And before you mention it, yes I know some people marry their friend, but it's extremely rare and not pertinent. Personally I view sex as an activity akin to wrestling in the mud. It's uncomfortable, lengthy, physically exhausting, and messy. I don't have any interest in it and I can't, absolutely can't fathom why so many people think it's the end all be all of a relationship when it's a couple hours of your week at best. It can be fun to make your partner come and I've been with a lot of people but I don't care for it for myself. I'd rather cuddle in bed and watch some true crime.

[–]Dravidian 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

I am not unable to get aroused. Making love is very important in most couples but not all couples, and it's dangerous to pretend it is. Plenty of reasons not to have sex any longer, like illness, depression, menopause, birthcontrol, or a natural lowering of libido. What happens then, are you doomed to be unhappy with your partner and join the sorry sods over on r/deadbedroom? I like to think my relationship is way stronger and less fickle than that. I see it always triggering responses from people who probably are feeling insecure about seeing someone who's very fine and doesn't have sex. As a feminist it should be finally accepted that women don't have to provide sex to make people happy or to be deemed a good woman. I'm not just friends with my fiancée, sex or not. It's very sad to think sex is the only thing that distinguish friends from girlfriends and wives.
