Massive numbers of bodies aren't that important in warfare anymore, not between modern militaries. What is much more worrying is the amount of our weapons tech traitors in this country have allowed the Chinese to acquire.

  1. What change to what training? What magic training do you believe exists?
  2. Since the vast majority of shootings I read about seem to be justified I don't see how this is going to help. Are you saying that there is a clear pattern of police officers who shoot citizens having misconduct on their records that went un punished? Otherwise, since most shootings seem to be reasonable, and even when they are lapses in judgement they certainly don't rise to the level of misconduct, this just sounds like a meaningless slogan.

I bet people who worked for Hitler said the same about the people they murdered. "All for the greater good"

The comparison to Hitler is childish and I never said anything about the greater good. I have an innate mistrust of the police, but if you think the police do 'more harm than good' , try removing them and see what you get. Something will take their place and it will be worse.

In my opinion police shootings are driven by several factors.

  • The police crossing paths with violent criminals
  • The possibility that said criminal has a gun or knife
  • Even without a traditional weapon said criminal often tries to flee in a car which the police interpret as an attempt to run them over, or said criminal is fighting with the police in a way they interpret as an attempt to gain control of their firearm
  • The militarization of the police may have led to an "us vs. them" attitude. If true I would assume an increase in per police encounter shootings could be shown since the 1980s.

Only the last point is a big police problem. Most times when I read these stories of police shootings they are full of the same loaded language that you use, but when I ask myself "If I was the cop what could I have done?" I rarely come up with a better answer than shooting and killing the person.

Have you tried that? Have you tried asking yourself what the cop in any particular case could have done differently? It would be helpful, but maybe not mandatory that you have:

  • Ever fired a firearm
  • Ever been in real fear of your life
  • Ever been in a serious physical altercation

But they don't have the number of violent criminals. The cops in the US aren't wandering around hunting down innocent people, for the most part those that get shot were criminals.

Clearly there is a huge problem in US police forces with accountability, justice, and training. I think it's extremely important to address this. Don't you?

And what crimes are you talking about? Are you saying anytime a cop kills a citizen it's a crime?

It's not a "minute difference", it's a huge gulf between murder and justifiable homicide. You used if for a reason, to mislead people, IMO.

It would be unlawful,

Here's the problem, if you are posting about an issue like this, and you feel justified in using an emotionally loaded word, that is not accurate, because you feel that in some alternate reality it would be correct. Then anytime you say anything else I am going to remember that you are willing to mis state things to score points.

And knowing that I'm much less likely to take seriously anything else that you claim.

[–]Desdinova 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

I view them as murders because they're overwhelmingly unnecessary.

The meaning of the word murder is not "someone feels it is unnecessary". The definition is "An unlawful killing". You are deliberately misusing the word.

The statistics from other countries prove this.

What other country has the demographics and the number of violent criminals with access to guns that the USA has?

Police need retraining and more scrutiny and justice for misconduct.

By who? I really distrust the idea of the police investigating themselves, but I am equally, if not more wary of the "social justice" groups. And what magic training would help stop this? Have you taken any firearms training? What would you recommend. I think maybe citizen training might be in order. Something along the line of "you fight your case in court, if you run or fight a cop in the street you may get killed". It's not that complicated.

How many of those people on that list are life long criminals? I think it might add something if the page linked to a copy of each persons criminal record.

US has 1300 murders of citizens by police per year,

That's not true. The definition of "murder" is an unlawful killing. Are you sure you don't mean manslaughter, which is anytime a human kills another human, but may be justified or not. Are you deliberately using a loaded word incorrectly or did you just not know what it meant?

The irony is that now, those that want to believe this, will claim the reason the numbers don't match the actual result is that it had to be changed once this was broadcast early.

TV showing election results before they happen by magnora7 in conspiracy

[–]Desdinova 4 insightful - 1 fun4 insightful - 0 fun5 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

The official explanation, which I personally believe to be far most likely FWIW, is that they were just doing a test run/rehersal with the graphics etc. and broadcast it live by mistake. The numbers were all made up and meaningless test data.

The alternative would seem to be that the election is not only rigged completely but that everyone from the cameraman on up at every media outlet is on it? That seems a little hard to believe.

I totally believe they cheat, but not in this broad a manner. I'd like to hear a hypothesis of how rigging the election with the news outlets having the results one day ahead of time would even work.

I truly like the idea of keeping comments on saidit from becoming the mess reddit become, but OTOH I don't think if we should over analyze every post. If you didn't feel like you were trying to shit post then you weren't. Only you know the true answer to that, but I certainly did not take it that way.

How is vending of illegal items decided? For instance kratom is perfectly legal to buy or use in most parts of the USA, but is a criminal substance in a small number of states/cities. So what happens if I try to advertise the sale of kratom? For some small subset of users it would be an illegal substance, but not for most. (Purely theoretical question, I have no plans to buy or sell anything on here).
