I have 2 of those neck gaiter things that started popping off during covid. One is of Japanese design. In this restaurant, there is a group of outsourced food service guys that are only, from I have seen, of Asian heritage. I know it’s not my business what people do in their personal life but it feels sad to see so many reject their own culture, especially among my own friends/ family. I had a friend that told me they preferred WM because they found them more attractive. If the reason is just physical attraction, it seems like a lot of it is due to media brainwashing. A lot of us grew up with mostly whites until college and probably consume a lot of western media. I didn’t know many Asians until college and I felt such relief to be around my own people. I felt a closeness and security with my Asian friends that I never felt with my white friends. I finally appreciated Asian beauty in college (after feeling ugly my whole life) because I was finally exposed to Asian guys and my friends introduced me to Asian media. Also, as I grow older, Asian guys just keep getting better looking and white guys just look really pale and old next to their Asian wives. A lot of the AF I know also married loser WM who don’t work or can’t get jobs. One of my cousins has to pay alimony to her loser ex-husband because he never worked. All the AF I know that married AM have good husbands that work hard and look good for their age. I don’t understand the love for WM, especially if it’s only about looks. They peak in their teens/ early 20s and then they age rapidly, balding by 30.

I guess I'm speaking from anecdotal experience, but all the WMAF and AMWF couples I know, whenever I look at their mutual friendship circles, everyone is white. The AM or AF is the only Asian in their friend group. I went to an AMWF wedding last year and the AM had zero Asian guy friends. Zero. All of his friends were white guys. The only Asians at his wedding were his bloodline family members, and the spouses of 2-3 of his white guy friends. I honestly think I was his only Asian friend he invited from his side. This guy went to two Ivy League schools too, so he's highly, highly educated. Same with my WMAF friends - when I look at pictures on social media, the AF is the only Asian in the couple's friend group. I'm sure some of this has to do with geographical location too, but I feel like if these couples associated equally with Asians/whites, then there would be less stigma with "losing your culture" "wannabe white" "self-hating," etc. And yes, I'm aware that WMAF is way more prevalent, but the AM I know that are married to WF are also wannabe whites. Is this different in more Asian-dominated cities where mixed couples still interact healthily with Asians/Asian friends/communities? There are only two candidates in the GOP race and one is Indian- an Indian woman who is 100% Indian ethnically. On the Democratic side, the race is a lock for Biden; who's Vice-President, the first woman VP ever is Indian (50% Indian, though raised entirely by her Indian mother). There's always a crab bucket instinct to knock them down because well, you're not a top candidate for the Presidency/VP - that's what resentful members of a group do. Or there are community members who don't understand we're Pan-Asian. In objective terms, the last few years, the community has taken major steps forward in terms of Asians being seen as leaders for the highest positions in the land. Andrew Yang, Vivek Ramaswamy, Kamala Harris, Nikki Haley- all have played major roles in changing how Asians are perceived. Because unlike so many, they had the backbone to think it was possible and unapologetically seek people's vote as the nation's leader. There's no doubt in my mind this will pay major dividends for how Asians are perceived in America. And hopefully it will be a stepping stone to an Asian President in the near future.
