I honestly don’t even know what non binary is supposed to mean. It literally just seems to apply to women who want to be treated as human and who have some stereotypically male interests. That seems to apply to most women!

Something similar is happening in academic philosophy, of all places. No one wants to touch this topic. This is the same profession, by the way, that had super energetic debates about gay marriage. My theory is this...they don't want to argue because they can't defend their views, ultimately. in the gay marriage debate both sides could get stuck into really deep, interesting questions. Is marriage really a social construct? What is it for? Should religious beliefs be relevant here? Why is gay marriage wrong? And so on. But the trans debate just doesn't have the the same depth or bite to it .Do you think biological sex exists? Well..yeah? Duh? The vast majority of academic philosophers (and most people) are materialists - they think there is a real objective world out there, made up of particles and forces, that conforms to scientific laws. The reason they don't want to touch this debate is for social issues - they don't want to engage because ultimately they think that supporting trans people is good, and arguing against them is wrong.

That clip was hilarious. Multiple misgenderings and the girl just...sits there and says nothing because that person is on her side. I also burst out laughing when he says "would you like this person to take your place" and the girl snootily replies "I'd like to finish my thought that YOU haven't let me finish yet" when the reason that she never got to finish her thought was because of the rude person in the audience. I feel bad for that guy, these people are absolutely exhausting. He maintains the highest level of politeness and decorum and they just trample all over him - they even accuse him of being aggressive with the microphone. He doesn't seem to realise that these people do not respond to reasonableness.

No, Sam, you aren't getting shit because you are 'gender nonconforming.' No one gives a crap if you wear lipstick. That is boring and old - men were wearing makeup back in the 70s. You are getting shit because you keep saying regressive sexist nonsense like you have an inner woman that comes out when you do sexy dancing, and your inner lady just loves heels.

Also, is it just me...how does Sam gender non conforming? Most of the time he has super short hair, stubble, bad skin, unkempt brows, jumpers. He looks like a normal bloke. He isn't exactly pushing the boundaries of femininity in men is he?

A common trans activist trope is to say that gender critical feminists “reduce” women to their body parts. How can they square that with literally calling women “menstruators” or “pregnant people”? They label women by their reproductive bodily functions and yet we are the reductive ones?

It seems to me that the UK is full of more feminists who do not subscribe so fully to transgender ideology than is the US, is this true and why? by Huyhuy in GenderCritical

I think it’s because U.K. feminism is very different from USA feminism. The U.K. has a deeply ingrained class system and so U.K. feminists are used to organising along class based lines. This means they are used to campaigning on behalf of distinct groups as opposed to just for individuals. I think USA feminism has become far more atomised and individualistic - it’s all about empowerment for individuals and what can feminism do for “you” as opposed to what can feminism do for women as a class.

Munro is a complete enigma to me - his publisher really deserves a medal. What has he actually done to deserve all this celebration? And this is going to sound incredibly petty but that is an atrocious cover - he’s supposed to be a model? He looks an absolute state. I saw a video of him when he was a drag Queen, before he got facial surgery, and he actually had unique and interesting features. Now his face looks entirely generic (and I’m sure he’s had nerve damage because he can’t seem to change facial expressions). He’s such a good example of someone falling upwards.

They have stories to tell but are being censored? How are they being censored? Off the top of my head: the Guardian has a long standing column which featured a guy transitioning, and the Telegraph has the trans diaries of the lovely men’s rights activist, David. The New York Times has featured countless trans stories including a video and article of that creepy dude who faked a pregnancy and was jealous of his wife. Vice had Paris Lee as a longstanding columnist and Vox hired Katelyn Burns whose work appears to be everywhere including the v and a museum in London. I’ve read countless interviews by Munro Burgdof, kaitlin Jenner (who got a vanity fair cover), laverne cox (who was on the cover of time as the trans tipping point) and Juno Dawson (who was in the gay times saying gay men really wanted to be fucked as women). I’ve read gushing long form articles about Andrea chu who says everyone is female and the essence of being female is dead eyes and a gaping asshole. They entirely dominate swathes of academia - I never hear the end of trans voices in philosophy like Rachel McKinnon (in fact they appear to want it to be the case that only trans people can talk about trans issues philosophically). One of the most richest you tubers, contra points, has had countless gushing interviews with the New York Times despite the fact he calls women “mackerel” and is a clear misogynist. In the U.K. India willoughby used to be a nobody local tv news presenter and when he transitioned was catapulted into reality tv shows and high profile breakfast tv.

Trans people often make headlines and have documentaries - the guardian followed a trans man who gave birth, Freddy McConnell, and she got a shiny documentary. Channel four recently followed a trans couple whose wedding was on the front cover of the sun and daily mail and who appeared on major morning tv shows. Channel four also had a reality show called “my trans summer” featuring an entirely trans cast. Trans kids is an entire thing of it’s own and is covered from every conceivable angle- there’s “I am jazz” which shows in excruciating detail the realities of being a trans child - we even get to see the poor kid in pain after surgeries. Mermaid and susie green have documentaries and opinion pieces. Mermaids helped write a bbc drama about a child transitioner. So again I ask - what censorship? Since about 2010 the trans shit has been constantly written about from every conceivable angle.

As for the idea that trans people have “stories” to tell... mate, I’ve heard them all. They are all mostly the same. Trans kids stories are so homogenous I’m sure you could programme an ai to generate them. The kid likes Barbies and glitter. Their mother always catches them just in time before they chop their dick off. They are strangely precocious and wise - “I was a girl in a previous life” or “I know I’m a girl inside”. The parents never get it or can’t explain it but they just trust their child. The parents are evangelical and smacked the kid when he reached for something pink. They are so boring and predictable. The stories are all the same.

As for the adults? Well, one thing I’ve learned is the stories will usually always contain a horrifying admission or detail that should be a massive red flag to anyone paying attention. They will admit to being aroused in female bathrooms, they will claim to be jealous of women, they will make the most outrageously sexist claims (hormones has made me stupid and cry all the time , tee hee I’m such a girl! I love being cat called on the street!) in fact my advice to trans people would be to lay low for a bit and stop talking so much because the more they talk the more the autogyniphillia or the raging sexism reveals itself, and it’s not pretty. Censorship? They never shut up!

I know libfems spout this shit about 'sex assigned at birth' but they literally don't believe it. On a famous libfem site that shall not be named, there was an article complaining about gender reveal parties. The comments were full of libfems discussing their tasteful and not at all problematic gender reveals. Or sex reveals, as they called it. Not a single one said her baby's sex was coercively assigned at birth by the doctor. Every single woman discussed seeing the sonogram and 'finding out' or 'discovering' the baby's sex. Um...ladies, have you forgotten the script? You saw your baby had a dick and 'found out 'you were having a boy? That's TERF talk! How could you assume your child's gender based off its genitals? I thought biological sex was fluid or didn't really exist? These women even discussed how excited they were to keep their child's sex a surprise. But I thought there is no surprise?

I've never seen that before. I wonder if the tide is turning. For a long time they battled the Facebook comments with the usual shit - "you're bigots!" "TERFS!" "you'll be kicked off the page for being hateful!" This made the women even more upset because Marie Stopes basically admitted that the word 'woman' was hate speech. Marie Stopes bleated that they were being 'inclusive' but that blatant lie didn't work because 'man' was a fine word to use, but not 'woman' - in the context of fucking abortion. They then had a huff and said they weren't moderating the page anymore because it was full of nasty meanies. Then they had a think about it and apologised. Women...we absolutely HAVE to counter this garbage vociferously whenever we see it. Do not let up. Complain, complain, complain. If we give them an inch they take a mile.We have to combat at every step the toxic idea that talking about women is somehow exclusive or hateful or inappropriate.

The only reason why there is so much hand wringing and angst about the meaning of the word 'woman' is entirely due to bloody postmodernism getting its claws deep into feminism in the 80s and 90s. The author approvingly regurgitates Judith Butler like it's gospel: "By demarcating feminism’s subject matter — by articulating a concrete category of harms that deserved feminist attention — feminists inadvertently defined womanhood in a manner that implies that there are right and wrong ways to be a woman. “Identity categories are never merely descriptive,” she insists in “Gender Trouble,” “but always normative, and as such, exclusionary.”

What Butler means is this - by thinking there exists such a thing as the category 'woman' in the world, you are literally bringing that category into existence. 'Women' don't exist, pre given, in reality. We create them by talking about them. And when we create any category, that is automatically normative, with rules about how to be a member of that category. And that is also exclusionary - and being exclusionary is wrong. Butler is literally mad that feminists have the audacity to think feminism has a subject matter - 'women'. The solution, says Butler, is to get rid of this exclusionary, oppressive concept of 'woman'. There is no such thing as 'woman'.

Now, as far as theories go, it's fucking mad. There's no reason to believe it. It's a travesty that feminists have spent so much time thinking about this shite. Butler never provides any reasons or arguments for her points. She just pronounces things as if they are truths from the mouth of God. Firstly, most normal human beings are realists - that is, they believe there is an external world and things exist outside of ourselves. There is no reason to believe that 'woman' is not a natural, pre-existing concept as opposed to something we just fucking made up because.Secondly, there is no reason to think that delineating a category is necessary normative. Categories can be merely descriptive of the way things are, as opposed to the way things should be. And thirdly, Butler never explains what is so heinous about being 'exclusionary'. I don't fit the definition of being five years old, or being a dog, or being a millionaire, but it's odd to say that the categories themselves are exclusionary in any malicious sense. But years of postmodernist bullshit has led us to think that 'excluding' men from the category of women is bad somehow.

The absolutely worst thing about this shit is how it's so selectively applied. Postmodernism applies to everything - EVERY category is normative and exclusionary. Carving out categories like 'disabled', 'old', 'black', 'poor' are just as problematic to the postmodernist as the category 'woman'. And yet the only category which is ever held up as problematic is 'woman'. Why is that, I wonder? Could it possibly be convenient to deconstruct the concept of women the second that women actually start to make some material gains in the world? And why do people so unthinkingly accept a barmy, half baked piece of philosophy that stems very heavily from a few French, male, sexist thinkers?

The background beat of the song says 'there's some ho's up in here.' How is it empowering to suggest that women can only be sexual if they are 'whores'? Fuck off with this whore shit. If this song truly reflected a role reversal the women would be fully clothed with lots of naked men writhing at their feet. As an aside...I've also seen a few TIMS claim that they LOVE the video because it confirms that women can get aroused by themselves as women. Yes, boys, a video directed by a man for the male gaze 100% proves autogynophillia in women...

In her paper "Contingent Foundations", Judith Butler actually argues that never ending debates about what a woman is should be the foundation of feminism, and she is super gleeful at the prospect of feminists just doing nothing but fighting about this: "the rifts between and amongst women over the content of the term woman should be safeguarded and prized...indeed the constant rifting should be affirmed as the ..ground of feminist theory." Our current stasis and fixation on trans issues has been wished for by postmodern feminists for a long time.
