This... could actually be a genius idea.

When I asked them, "Why the Moon? Why not use the relay itself?" He posted this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vxfk5eWlbQo

In theory, a cheap $1m server in orbit could be used for 5 years before eventually burning up, but the problem is that the government can destroy it with ease. By having the main server around the moon it prevents the main system from being threatened, while allowing for other actors with the money to launch their own relays in orbit forcing all relays to be removed for the connection to be lost.

All we need is one rich person willing to take the fall. Life in prison is a lot to ask from a multi-millionaire. Even more so when you consider that 5 year operational window.

The silver bullet required to magically fix our problems needs 2 impossible things.

1) A method of communication that can't be censored with the option to be anonymous

2) that is accessible through extremely simply user controls.

So far nobody's been able to figure out a way to do both. If it's simple enough for the public to use it (the people we are trying to reach) then there's always human-moderated control that will censor information. If the information is impossible to censor (through encryption or other means) it is always behind a complex wall of techno-babble that must be understood... and as science has shown, the average person is not going to get a 4 year degree in computer science for the singular purpose of type to people.

People say "blockchain" but no matter how much they scream from the rooftops... Bitcoin could still be disabled through a 51% attack with a $5b computer. It only exists because it's too expensive for any one government to shut down on their own. If a messaging program was created that was "Reddit, but the front page is impossible to censor" every country on Earth would pool together their resources to shut it down.

Funniest idea I've heard was launching a server into orbit around the moon, followed by launching a relay into Earth orbit, and then use Starlink dishes to receive and transmit the data. It would totally work, but nobody is going to spend the $8m to create "free-speech Internet 2.0" only to end up instantly in jail when they admit they can't shut it down. This fantasy also ignores the $1m upkeep cost of launching a new relay into Earth's orbit every 5 years.

Jokes aside, a more realistic approach would be to fix public schools. Bring back the scientific method. Teach kids to use it. To question everything. Stop punishing them for asking why a rule exists or why another student was punished when another was not. Any teacher that says, "Because I said so." or "Because those are the rules." should be automatically fired. Introduce a jury and trial system into schools instead of the current B.S. "Punish them both" arbitrary system. Show kids how laws and investigations work in a safe environment. The majority of people in jail confess because they were manipulated by cops who pretended to be their friends and lied to their faces. Have a child experience that so they know what to expect. Games like Tank Turn Tactics should be mandatory to play in elementary school to teach young kids how the real world outside of school is going to be. Giving a kid a textbook, telling them to memorize it, and lying to their face that their problems will go away with a degree and job they hate won't work forever. Lots of people have grown up achieving the academic goals set before them only to be surprised when someone cheats them out of a raise or gets HR to fire them for no reason. All the book knowledge in the world means nothing without an understanding of how to apply it.

Apologies for being pessimistic, but I think the war of public persuasion might already be lost if we are unable to speak freely online. It is the generation growing up in this nightmare that need are help the most right now.

Dissent is a part of Reddit and the foundation of democracy. Reddit is a place for open and authentic discussion and debate. This includes conversations that question or disagree with popular consensus. This includes conversations that criticize those that disagree with the majority opinion.

Oh wow. That sounds nice-

This includes protests that criticize or object to our decisions on which communities to ban from the platform.

Bull-fucking-shit it does.

However, manipulating or cheating Reddit to amplify any particular viewpoint is against our policies, and we will continue to action communities that do so or that violate any of our other rules,

That is the politest "Go fuck yourselves, peasants. Now go back to your room before we ground you." I have ever seen.

"Manipulating or cheating reddit to amplify"

Voting. You know, the "democracy" you were glorifying 3 paragraphs earlier? omfg the pure ego oozing from this fucking reddit post.

The sad part that hurts the most is that none of these mods are willing to stand up and continue the fight because they don't want their tiny fiefdom taken away. They're pro-censorship until they, themselves, are threatened with it and then suddenly their attention turns to something else to burn.

In the states where the majority have guns? Sure. In the states where getting gun takes 3 years if you're lucky? People are going to flee in their cars by the millions to other states.

It all depends on how slowly things happen. Normalization takes time.

The second guns are gone we're all fucked. That's what I'm worried about at this rate. Militia's aren't going to do shit to save us. Every single one of them is full of feds.

Indoctrination: Children as young as 10 are getting social media accounts.

Normalization: Everybody else has it, including your friends, and if you don't then you're out of the loop.

Gamification: A point scoring system is built in to promote good behavior, using it more triggers the pleasure center in the brain from the higher numbers, and the punishment from bad behavior is enforced by your own social circle that also use the platform.

Children aren't taught strategy or tactics anymore. They want the attention their two working parents never provided them. Social media became the perfect way to fill the void with the illusion of being noticed by their peers.

Hadn't even thought of that.

There's really nothing to stop trolls from driving past workers and shutting down equipment. Because the bluetooth is intended to be a security feature there's no physical way of enabling or disabling it externally. They would need an in-store device to wireless fix the problem.

Reminds me a little of how some communist countries make everything illegal, and then only enforce the law to remove competitors.

It's ridiculous that they think simply adding a wire or rope around the product will scare away customers. The dude buying a chainsaw, that deals with the idea of being crushed to death on a daily basis as a lumberjack, will not care in the slightest if they have to ask an employee to take a rope off. The target customer for Home Depot are people buying construction equipment, hammers, nails, balancing on a ladder to paint, and lots of stuff that could cause injury. I highly doubt their light bulb department is the thing keeping them afloat.

There's no way installing bluetooth is the cheaper option compared simply tying stuff down. This feels like somebody high up in the company has a brother that works in a chip factory making bluetooth and saw an opportunity to make some extra bucks.

power tools that won't work unless they're properly scanned and activated at the register via Bluetooth technology. If a thief managed to smuggle a power drill out of the store without paying, the drill simply wouldn't turn on.

Effort and Cost.

While this will stop most shop lifters it won't stop them from selling them online at a discount to people smart enough to bypass the on/off switch.

I do find it a little funny how they say this is their best solution that avoids hurting their brand.

Defects will happen. A tired a employee won't scan it right. Now there's a person on the job trying to use a tool that won't turn on. He makes a post online about it. Other people chime in with similar experiences. Other brands are recommended. Then somebody will post a youtube tutorial about which wire to disconnect to bypass the bluetooth. That video gets removed for "piracy" or some made up reason.

Sounds more and more like John Dear hell every day.

Can't wait for the anti-right-to-repair people to start screaming when customers start taking their broken power tools to someone like Louis Rossmann who can "fix" their tools for $5, instead of going back to the store to have it be turned on.

I'd rather pay $5 to have the bluetooth safeguard removed at a small tech shop than disabled at the store who couldn't do it right the first time.

And all of this because the store doesn't want to hurt their brand image by tying things down ffs.

They need to identify who obeys and who hesitates. Even if you do get the vaccine, that's not the most valuable data for them. How long did it take someone to get it? It's in your medical file. The exact date and time you received it. If they can figure out the speed of obedience in relation to those who disobey, they can use that to model high-threat areas, and estimate how much more bullshit certain areas can take.

I've heard that maybe the answer is to have randomized mods where one day you suddenly gain mod privileges for the next 48 hours, then somebody else does, and so on.The danger with that is if it's rigged to appear random, or that the privileges granted can be instantly overruled by a secret moderator class above it that nobody knows about.

Cash isn't dead.

There's no reason to carry more money on you then you intend to spend that day. There's no reason to have more money in your bank account than you intend to spend on bills, because they're no safer than your mattress if you're concerned about losing it all.

We've all got to keep our money somewhere, but the idea of placing all of my money in a place that can be tracked, and have to ask permission to access it, has always sounded crazy to me. Paying bills and occasionally ordering stuff online. That's all it's really good for. That's not enough incentive for me to put everything I own into a business that could legally take it all at the drop of a hat.

The myth of, "If you carry more than $200 in your wallet you'll get mugged." is a joke. More people get mugged at an atm than randomly in a parking lot.

place that parents can trust,

Peer pressure alone is enough to warp the mind of a child into accepting illogical statements to better fit in. There's no source of communication, that is full of strangers, that won't create the system you're trying to avoid. imo children under the age of 14 shouldn't be able to use social media (facebook, twitter, myspace, ect.,) without parental supervision, but there's no way to block that without censoring most of the internet along with it, which is also bad when you consider how being denied access to easy information can stunt a child's ability to understand the world.

with other people who to trust?

That is the job of the parent. "Hey Mom/Dad/Other Adult, I just read this thing online. Is this true?"

The moment they're ignored when asking a question, or insulted for not knowing the answer, they will default to the mindless idiots around them they call friends that have no idea either. And that's the best case scenario. If they start searching for answers by talking to random strangers online the brainwashing only gets worse.

Things like Monero are starting to become the future. Only problem is finding a way for companies to legally acquire it. One of the small reasons why bitcoin is still being allowed by most governments is because it's possible to identify the average person using it. If the government is a corporation, then don't you think its existence would prove its legality? The laws surrounding it are controlled by itself, so its impossible (except under extreme circumstances, like "Nixon" circumstances") to charge itself with a crime.

This concept isn't USA exclusive, either: The Queen of England could walk down the street stabbing people and can't be charged with a crime. Because the legal authority to charge her would be herself, which she might not want to do if she's gone crazy.

Nobody can use logic against you because logic requires the use of words containing definitions.

This is also why these racist-woke-morons hate math so damn much. They can't fight it. They can't change the definitions of numbers. Expect them to attack the institutions teaching math and physics. The less people understand numbers, the less threats there are to their control.

When they say "The Whites caused x" they don't mean white people. They mean the current system of western philosophy. They changed the definition of white and racist in order to speak nonsense freely without risk of logical debate.

Okay. Fuck it. Explain it to me.

All politicians accept monetary gifts under the table. The simple trick that they've been using for decades to have somebody else accept the money for them and then have that person give it.

As for "Office" not sure what you mean. Somebody claiming to be Jewish or Catholic isn't "legally" a member of another office.

"Title" would be interesting way to remove somebody from politics. One country gives them a title. Trick them into accepting it on camera. Problem is, that is not as easy as it sounds, as it requires both parties involved to publicly acknowledged such a title, because if either side simply says, "I misunderstood their statement, I thought they were just being polite." and then good luck proving intent in court.

but I sadly get the feeling that none of the above is what you were talking about when you made this post...

Not even close. Ya start small with items of clothing, colors, rings, or something else nobody cares about. Less than a hat. Nobody will care.

The war will start when the government stops banning symbols, words, and iconography, and starts requiring it. People already refuse to wear masks. Imagine if it was something 10 times more drastic like an actual symbol people had to show. For example:

"Anybody caught outside without papers, documentation, or a letter D on a visible part of their clothing, will be fined $1 by police."

That's when you know shit is about to hit the fan. We all carry I.D.'s to drive. So most of the country won't care. Demand someone to dress a certain way, even a little bit by demanding a symbol to be worn, is a violation of freedom of speech and after enough politicians end up in jail (the 4 or 5 who refuse to comply) then that's one way the war starts.

Or the dollar collapses and the people in the cities demand free food. That's another possible way the war begins.

Same reason people love Zombie movies. A chance for freedom from society's hypocrisy at the small, small cost of millions of others? If you're life is bad enough, who wouldn't take that risk when they feel they already have nothing else to lose. Of course, you've still got to push out the question... What if these dice come up wrong and you're the zombie instead of the survivor? That's a big risk they desperately try not to think about because if you think about it, even for just a second, then western society with its abundance of food and water starts to look like the better option.

As far as the law is concerned they're operating with immunity. Unless some miracle happens with Texas and a free speech challenge is issued (which is highly unlikely) they will continue to operate with impunity. Their censorship record needs to be proven, which so far hasn't happened.
