Gender Critical women don't believe that liking things commonly attributed to males or female makes you the opposite sex.

We don't believe liking dresses and baking makes you a woman or liking trucks makes you a man.

We believe people should be able to like dresses or trucks and do what they like, and that they are still male or female regardless.

We didn't get knocked out... this is proof our movement is gaining power.

So we got kicked off a platform. Hell, most people I know haven't even heard of Reddit, I had to explain to someone this morning, "It's sort of like Facebook". It isn't really, but close enough for the purpose of my conversation.

“Some of the [trans]women pointed out that this is also true for cisgender women who struggle with fertility — yet, their inability to menstruate and to conceive a child doesn’t call their womanhood into question.” by Literallyawoman in GenderCritical

Trans women ARE able to conceive a child... in someone else. That they chose to modify their bodies to lose this ability doesn't change that.

So, this is a result of 9-11.

Prior to then, feminists were absolutely talking about these issues. Those old enough to remember the 80s and 90s may remember support for the Afghai women who were living behind painted windows, books like "Not Without my Daughter" and "Princess" were super popular with feminists, etc.

After 9-11, "Those muslims are mean to women!" became an excuse to bomb them. Which, as we all know, isn't good for women. That's when this became an issue. No one wanted to criticize Islam because many Western countries WERE at war with Muslim ones, and "bashing" them was seen as an endorsement. It became a further issue with the continuing migration.

So that's the cultural context of all of this.

Radical Feminism is failing because it’s too racist (part 2) by [deleted] in GenderCritical

[–]Amareldys 9 insightful - 2 fun9 insightful - 1 fun10 insightful - 2 fun -  (0 children)

You make a lot of good points. I feel forums like reddit, and saidit, tend to bring out horrible racial points of view and reinforce them. This is not limited to the GC community, but the GC community is part of it.

Radical feminism SHOULD be for all women, but all women are going to bring in their own biases and issues and that's gonna include racism unfortunately.

I know navigating racial waters and feminism can be very tricky for white women. Trying to support women who are being harmed in other societies can lead to bashing those societies and bring out racism. Ignoring women in those societies because one is afraid of looking racist throws those women under the bus and is its own form of racism. So we need to be careful, but make sure we are still supporting all women of all colors.

I think the people criticizing Islam tend to also be criticizing Christianity. I haven't noticed much glorification towards Christianity. I will say both of these religions are ideologies and criticizing an ideology is different than bashing a race.

The people criticizing Judaism on the left, be they liberal feminists or left wing men or rad fems are often angry about the Israel/Palestine situation. I agree there is a lot wrong with that situation, I think however you are right and it DOES spill over into anti-semitism, or gets used as a handy cover for it.
