Lumber Prices...Why Is No One Talking About This?

I was about to write an essay on lumber price, but the video is spot on so there's no need for it. The only thing it didn't mention was Blackrock buying houses like crazy (outbidding everyone) for renting purposes.

Users of Saidit: Should subs that don't violate the rules be removed from s/all by the admins?

what was the sub in question? I've been super busy lately and barely connected to the site.

Also, they seem to wants to remove too much political from the s/all page so that might be it. It wouldn't be the first time they've done it.

Data Suggests 40 Percent of Cops Abuse Family
Akali 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun 3 years ago

The problem I have with this study is that they don't define what is classified as abused and they don't show the sample size. Even the article mention, I quote : "it's worth nothing that the sample size are a bit small". But they don't mention the sample size and that matters a lot.

Abuse could be : have your husband scream at you in the last 12 month. And then the wife think : I screamed at him because he overcooked the chiken and told him he's an idiot and he screamed back telling me I just have to cook it myself. And then they check yes in the question and they count her instance as police abuse.

Or Abuse could be : As your husband hit you in the past 12 month. In which case it would be quite relevent.

But if they don't tell us how they have defined abuse, there's just no way to know so the interpretation of that study is meaningless.

As for the sample size, it define the margin of error which is also quite relevent to know, yet again they don't mention it.

The conspiracy theorist and the pile of money
Akali 4 insightful - 4 fun4 insightful - 3 fun5 insightful - 4 fun 3 years ago

The thing is a lot of these research are building up on one another and tend to have many many assumptions. When you actually take a look at them you realise they have large margin of error which is the standard for prevision and forcast multiple decades in the future. The problem with those margin of error is that they are so gigantic that you cannot scientifically conclude anything. You can say the margin of error seem to be moving into a trend over time, but mathematically speaking you could be making a type 1 error by rejecting a true null hypothesis so theses ''studies'' are causing a clash with the scientific method.

What the pro climat change argue and they might likely be correct, altought it isn't a certainty, is that the worst case senario in these margin of error keeps happening years after years. Which as a strawman argument is quite convincing, but a margin of error is still a margin of error and history has proven many time that the past correlation don't nesserserly hold for the future.

So doing a forecast on climate change for 100 years is really at the complete opposite of what any reasonable scientis would do and is more of a mediatic show off than anything else.

Again, I'll just end this by mentionning that I believe in climate change, but that I think the main issue is overpopulation which the green media tend to simply forget. The population is growing exponentially and with each individual, their needs is following and it's not by dooming your own economy that a country will ever achieve to end climate change because they won't be adressing the main issue which is over population.

So, yes, you are correct, one is credible and the other isn't, but it's not that simple. It never is that simple.

I searched for it and I found that : https://www.metrotimes.com/news-hits/archives/2021/05/20/no-250k-people-did-not-march-for-palestine-in-dearborn Aparently they were 2000. Not 250k. The article mention that it appened in Dearborn and that the population of dearborn is 93k so for the protest to happen, it would have needed to be people from across the US travelling there. According to their police department, they were 2000 protestors.

The old age of the internet where there was no law has been over for a few years.

There's good and bad coming from it. There's less scam website around (or at least they are filtered away). But there's a lot of censorship due to the fear of being in the spotlight.

Also, conservative opinions are mostly frowned upon in the west by the media, not in the rest of the world.
