I saw the video posted on r/austria lately. This is a tradition in south-Tyrol, where the so called "Perchten" (they are similar to Krampus) beat up consenting participants, not migrants. It's pretty stupid and archaic, but still not what this article makes it out to be.

If you look at photographs from like 100 years back, it was not uncommon for good friends to have non-sexual physical contact, like sitting on the lap of another man, without anyone calling them faggots.

Sadly some people are impressed by recklessness. Years ago at the university, a colleague offered to take me and 2 girls to the train station with his (actually his dad's BMW) car, cause it was quite a walk. He drove nearly as crazy as the dude in the vid. The girls where enjoying it, wooing all the time, singing happily along with the extremely loud music. After not even 2 min, I screamed at the guy to stop and let me out. Was about to punch his face in when he finally stopped, but I could control myself and only tell him how much of a retard he is.
