Haha this is great. I browsed the MTV history on wikipedia and apparently this song was written at the same time MTV began its video music awards spectacle. To my ears it pokes fun at mass media entertainment and consumerism, but MTV went on to air the music video of this song anyway - to be ironic I suppose. I imagine that's part of the joke, that the lyrics go right over the listener's head despite the message.

If everyone has their own gender pronoun, it implies that ones gender is unique to oneself. If this were true, gender would no longer be a reliable source of social identity. And that's the game. Piece by piece, everything that contributes to ones identity will be stripped away from society. On the surface it seems justified: nobody wants to be defined by their race, gender, or class. But when you remove these concepts from a society we can no longer celebrate our differences nor be united by our commonalities. A society of people that have no differences is a society of people that are all the same. Where does the individual fit into such a society? Can we even be individual if we are all the same? This dissolution of the self is the hidden motivation behind the postmodernist SJW movement within our already egalitarian society. It is an attack on individualism and a step toward our enslavement.

One future visitor to this desolate place will be the International Space Station.

Current plans are for it to be decommissioned in the next decade and it will have to be carefully brought down in the oceanic pole of inaccessibility. With a mass of 450 tonnes - four times that of the Mir space station - it will make a spectacular sight.

Tiangong-1's orbit is decaying as it heads towards re-entry. But Chinese engineers have lost control of it and cannot fire its thrusters to bring it down in the South Pacific.

Instead it will come down somewhere between 42.8 degrees north and south. That's between the latitude of northern Spain and southern Australia, and we won't be able to be more precise than that until just a few hours before it burns up.

Great artwork. On closer inspection, the other worldly spheres above correspond with the heavenly bodies below. The twelve spoke wheel represents the stars, the sphere without rays represents the moon, and the six rayed sphere represents the sun. There's so much going on I nearly missed the tree at the center of it all blooming with life.

And like looking upon the blinding sun with unadjusted eyes, initially some truths can be painful. It is this uneasiness that persuades many to remain in a state of blissful ignorance within the cave. Fortunately, I find people are beginning to lift the veil more and more so to see beyond the curtain. With the internet, those who are capable now have a more accessible means toward illumination.

It's unfortunate that most of our lawmakers are ignorant to how the internet works. The people with power to fix these problems are out of touch with new technology and don't even know there are problems to begin with. How they are so unaware is beyond me, I mean the internet is over 20 years old at this point.

Do you think they knew it was Russian propaganda? Even if they did, I doubt they would care... plausible deniability and all that. Modern social media platforms have their heads so far up advertisers assholes that they make it incredibly simple for the troll farms to affect the crowd psychology.

Reddit took an extreme stance on its censorship. That's why voat was created, because fuck them I'll say what I want. I switched to voat when I became fed up with reddits bullshit mod rules, political and ideological censorship, as well as the over the top SJW culture. I enjoyed the switch at first but voat became a circle jerk real quick. I shouldn't have been surprised because that's all reddit is. One big propaganda machine for the masses to condition themselves with. Voat is the same machine, its conditioning is just reversed. It quickly became a place filled with "Can you believe Reddit doesn't allow us to say jew nigger faggot?! I'm going to say it here in the comments because I can! Hey guys lets all make jew nigger faggot memes to trigger the snowflakes cause it's hilarious!!" And I get it, there is a place for that, and some people enjoy memes and shitposts, but that kind of content just feels like a waste of time to me.

I somewhat agree. I mean a joke is a joke, even if it's racist it can still be funny. And I would also agree that due to the promotion of such a politically-correct culture these last few years, many people have become very obsessed with being offended about every little thing they come across and have forgotten how to laugh. That said, we must also consider that the anonymous nature of the internet has caused many people to forget how to hold healthy discussion. Take your comment here for example: despite being in agreement with your initial premise, had I heard you fully say this comment in person I would have looked at you like you were fucking retarded and would assume you are too immature for adult debate.

[–]Abraxas 1 insightful - 2 fun1 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 2 fun -  (0 children)

Exactly: it's labelled "over population" rather than "over consumption", as if it is life itself that is to blame. In this age, everyone who is born is considered a product whose sole purpose is to consume. Thus, when a population grows exponentially, it leads to far higher levels of consumption which in turn creates waste and pollution. This is tolerated as the system has been designed this way in order to maximize the manufacture of wealth to which the powerful are weighted by. The very purpose of money is the abstraction of power, so it is not unexpected that the system behaves this way. It is, however, this system that causes a growing population to be considered a crisis. In other words, if we were not so greedy and wasteful, this planet could sustain 100 billion.
