It's two different groups now.

There's "truscum" or transmeds who believe you need gender dysphoria to be trans, and that's the only reason anyone should consider transition.

And then there's the modern TQ+ movement filled with "tucutes", "transtrenders", and any possible letter/name/identity they make up and want to include. They shun truscum as evil bootlicking gatekeepers.

There is a crazy amount of spam bots and trolls that attack this site constantly.

As annoying as it is to have to deal with the ramped-up Cloudflare shit, I appreciate it. Instead of spending 40 minutes reporting spam assholes and then leaving without doing anything else, I spend maybe 5 minutes, and then can move along to actually read what other real people are sharing.

If I spend 40 minutes reporting spam, I won't contribute to this site since I'm burned out. If I spend 5 minutes, and then can read what real people share, I may actually contribute in comments and help keep the site alive.

While I understand your hesitation to remove Ike's contributions since it's engagement, what he shares has absolutely nothing to do with the purpose of this sub.

This sub is not meant to be a catch-all for user opinions and voices, that's s/whatever and many others. This sub is supposed to be about SaidIt as a website, where admins and users can contribute and engage together about it specifically.

I have no problem reading what Ike shares elsewhere, but it's not OK here. I am here looking for information about SaidIt in this sub, like the description says.

IMO you are making the wrong choice in this particular area. I will respect your decision to not do anything about it, but I will also say I think it's incorrect.

The SaidIt mobile app was removed from the Google Play Store sometime in 2021. You can still download it directly here: https://f-droid.org/en/packages/org.saiditnet.redreader

Whether it works with all the Cloudflare limitations these days, I cannot say.

We welcome newcomers and like-minded people to our community, you just have to start in the comments instead of representing us immediately by sharing on our behalf.

This sub is in a downslope of engagement at the moment and that's OK. LGB "Drop The T" will persist and remain a space for our people, whether we are 5 or 50,000 strong.

You're a 20 day old account reacting to 6 month old comment on a nearly 2 year old post. Our sub has been here 4+ years and experienced quite a lot that you're not aware of. Your advice may be good-intentioned, but we (and even SaidIt as a whole) are well past it.

There are people who are strangely obsessed with disrupting SaidIt, I don't really understand.

I don't bother with trying to figure out who is an alt of who, I don't care much who they are. I just ignore how dumb they act, and eventually they reveal themselves to be the same old nuisance machine and abandon the latest account and start over again with a new one.

It's the spam that gets to me. It's annoying to have to click through Cloudflare to verify, but if it helps keep the site afloat, I'll just deal with it.

But the obnoxious amount of spam is the worst. I spend more time reporting it than actually browsing the site or reading posts anymore. That's going to kill our growth more than anything, no one new will want to try out a site infested with spam bots.

The admins are removing spam, I can see that in modlogs, but the fact they can't ban or shadowban the accounts is frustrating.

I learned yesterday that when birds feel threatened, they open their beaks wide and can even growl (kind of like a lion)!

A little bird flew into the office at work when someone left the door open, I think it was a baby blue jay. We all tried to gently catch it and/or shoo it back towards the door. Poor little guy was super scared and tucking into himself and puffing his feathers out ... but he also did the beak behavior and growling. I've never seen that before!

LGB people aren't a huge presence on the site, and SaidIt as a whole is pretty small as it is. Combine that with the 90-9-1 rule for social media, and we end up with LGB subs that are just kinda floating along with very small pockets of activity.

This sub was also closed for a long time, so I'm sure that didn't help things either.

Subs are visible on s/all by default. If they are not showing on s/all, it's because either the mods removed the sub from it or the SaidIt Admins did.

There have been very few subs removed from s/all by SaidIt Admins over the years. The majority which are not on s/all are purposely doing it, so they can mod the sub as they prefer.

I honestly dont think most real-life trans people are a part of the agenda.

There are going to be the fakers and band-wagoners, of course, and those people are the ones who make things difficult for everyone ... but I think most real trans people are more transmed/truscum and just trying to live their lives with a debilitating mental illness (dysphoria), and hope people will treat them with kindness and decency. AGPs trigger a deep instinctual unease in most people, even if they bury their heads in the sand and ignore it to make themselves feel better.

I think the internet exploded into social media for regular people, and propoganda for the ruling class. It's made everything feel a lot more extreme than it really is. It has definitely made me side-eye a lot more though, and be cautious about who I interact with and how.

Whenever you report a post, it gets automatically "hidden". So it's out-of-sight, out-of-mind for you at least. But it still exists until it gets removed, either by a sub mod or a site admin. I semi-regularly try to help out by going to all/new and reporting too, so you're not alone in that.

Seeing some of the same names for months though is pretty frustrating, there has got to be another solution. If Automoderator exists for subs and can shadowban or auto-report, can't something like that be utilized for the site as a whole?

It's a funny little switch to me. It's clearly more propaganda and astroturfing. They are realizing they are losing the war with "trans women are women" and are beginning to try to rise up with "trans men are men" since they think actual women hold more power.

They have no idea of the hellfire that will reign down upon them and everyone else with this approach. If anyone thought patriarchy was bad before, woooo ... it's going to get really bad and ugly.

As far as AI/bot content on Reddit, it's become much worse since the API changes. A lot of real people who were contributing content or moderating have left the site. So all the fake posts and comments continue to exist and be played off of. There's no one left to keep astroturfing out except those who believe in it and are supported by the admins who also believe in it.

That's they key to it, I think. I have been very loosely following what has happened with sites like KiwiFarms, supposedly the worst of the worst. The creator Josh has basically had to go the route of creating his own internet.

Our group is allowed to exist here, but gets blackballed wherever we try to exist outside. It is so much worse, and bigger than us.
