I'm just saying the phrasing of the overall ceremony and constantly hearing "queer" "woman" "color" etc. Gave me an eye roll. Have a FTM "friend" she seemed to like me a lot and there wouldn't be a problem... If she wasn't trans. When it got to the point the friend group (especially my best friend) started calling her by a male name and pronounce I just stopped referring to her all together. Stoped talking about her or If nessesary, avoided pronounce at all cost. Nothing much to add here, I truly feel sorry for her. It's clear she wants to escape womanhood but she will only hurt her body in the meaningless process. I can't say a word tho. Plus it's so clear no one actually buys into this but they have to for politics sake. I can see the exhaustion on my bsf's face whenever she talks about her and has to use the "correct" references or when she forced herself to talk about Demi Lovato as a "they" (big eye roll). Ugh I'm so done with all this I wished it stopped.

There's nothing wrong with having a label of your own but It is not something to adapt as an identity. It's something personal. You can have your own community, memes and whatever but it is not something you can join us over. No one cares irl. Maybe your friends and people you date. But if it can be explained without special labels it's not that big of a deal. It's not not normal to not be that much into sex or to not want to date/have a romantic relationship.

As older generations die off and social conservatism becomes less relevant or changes into something else the goal should be normalization so that people don't use this identity as some social statement.

This. Too many girls seem to "be gay" just for the sake of being different and pissing people off. All while having a boyfriend. So gay 🙃

Yk I kinda am but not for the reasons they think.

I often feel not like other lesbians. I'm not a gay disaster, or a hopeless romantic. I don't conform to any lesbian stereotypes in clothing. When I was talking to my lesbian friend about how I'm not a relationship kind of person and I'm mostly looking for fun I thought to myself "I'm just another straight girl to her" one time I joked about how I don't get the "gay people walk fast" joke bcs I'm so fucking slow and she said "maybe you're not gay" like what??

When did a requirement for being a lesbian become anything other than being attracted to (only) women?

Not to mention not buying into their bullshit gender ideology.

I realize this sounds cringey and I know probably other lesbians feel the same but it is how I often feel surrounded by media (and irl "queer" ppl) who constantly condone those harmful stereotypes. I'm just a normal fucking person who likes women. Nothing to it.

This is why I don't get the hostility towards straight girls. Who cares if they want to expirement or kiss a girl at a party for fun? You know what you're getting into with them and it's your choice weather you want to participate in it or not.

What they don't do, is appropriate labels and communities they don't belong in. At least from my experience, they say they're straight and acknowledge the fact they don't want to get with a girl for real instead of calling themselves bi because it's the "right" thing to identify as, other wise you're not open minded and honest with yourself bcs "everyone is gay". Are gay women "masculine" because of the "manly brains", and gay men "feminine" because of the "lady brains"? I thought there's no such thing as a "masculine" or "feminine" brain? by UWUness in GenderCritical

So if I'm a feminine lesbian does that mean I'm really a feminine man, therefore a gay man, therefore really a woman?

Queerplatonic.... seriously? by TransspeciesUnicorn in LGBDropTheT

[–]Mermer 4 insightful - 1 fun4 insightful - 0 fun5 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

It's not a term for a regular friendship or FWB, It's an equivalent of a long-term, exclusive partnership. Does it need a special label? Probably not, I doubt anyone ever would say queer platonic partner irl, but it does describe the specific nature of a relationship to discuss with some close friends or on the internet. Ppl irl just use the normal stuff like girlfriend, wife, partner etc. But within the right scapes there's no harm in having such label Imo. I doubt anyone would bother to explain that stuff to straight ppl.

Edit: I do not believe that asexuality or aromantism makes you part of LGB or not straight but that doesn't mean ace/aro ppl can't have their own labels to put on how they feel that is different from the norm and LGB people can also be ace/aro. (Safe your comments about aromantism to yourself, I've heard it all, I don't care if you don't believe in it, you do you.)

I really doubt that, I have completely lost any interest in men, even fictional. I can't phantom any sort of attraction. I'm not even big on sex or romance anyway, but if it's gonna happen, it's gonna be a woman.

Like I said I wasn't attacking anime itself, I love animation myself but the fan bases are overflowed with snowflakes, so my point/joke or whatever was that that could be something to bond over instead of appropriating the "gay" community by finding labels that could describe anyone.

I have the privilege to be in friend groups where being gay is completely normalized so that aspect of me doesn't make me feel odded out but my point wasn't that and LGB person can't be a weirdo or a nerd but that the gay part isn't what makes them weird. I hope you found/find your people.

They use accusations like this to cope with their loneliness. It's probably hard being trans. You what else it's hard to be? A lesbian. It hurts to know how little of us there actually is. It hurts that no matter how amazing we are to our straight friends they'll never see us anything real but it's not a political thing to not be attracted to somebody. You think lesbians are some mean privileged group that oppresses you by not sleeping with you. We just learn how to conceal our feelings and respect women's boundaries. And yet you have the audacity to make us the villains and call us "not real" lesbians. Get a fucking life, there's more to it than dating and sex.

[–]Mermer 2 insightful - 2 fun2 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 2 fun -  (0 children)

I don't think we should be spreading the idea of being pressed about who sleeps with who. Why don't lesbians get to be bi-curious? I think many lesbians struggle with accepting being a lesbian because how it is forbidden for them to even find a man attractive. You can appreciate someone's attractiveness, hell even have a crush on them but never actually see them in that way realistically. And maybe you can even try it with a very special man for the pure sake of experimentation or fun without having to disgenuinely identify as bi. Idk, if you ask me, using men for sex without actually liking them or with having 0 intentions of anything real seems pretty gay to me. Just my opinion, pls don't attack me if you disagree.

Wow, ok, edit: call me crazy but I still don't think purely circumstantial, one in a million probably heavily power imbalanced sex with a man makes you bi if you don't seek relations with men on regular basis. Also, finding a man attractive ≠ being attracted to him especially if you don't normally find men attractive.

If these girls would use some more specific label like "bisexual homoromantic" you'd probably be rolling your eyes. Labels are societal and signal who you're interested in so I do not think it is fair to call yourself bi if you don't like men and you're not interested in them.

Edit 2: afterthoughts, if anyone even sees this. I'm not saying what those girls are doing is right. You really shouldn't be sleeping with people just because you're bored. But if that's your reasoning behind it I really wouldn't count it as attraction.

Oh my fucking God, not dating someone is not oppression or discrimination. It is something deeply personal and anyone can date who they fucking want. You wouldn't call a black person racist for not wanting to date a white person, you wouldn't call a trans person transphobic for not wanting to date another trans person. Are gay men misogynists? Check your fucking entitlement if you think dating or not dating someone is oppression.

Trans ideology is a religion, which I don't believe in. Being gay is a sin? I don't care, I'm an atheist, leave me alone. Being gay is transphobic? I don't care, I don't believe in that shit, leave me the fuck alone. The only problem is that nobody cares if I'm an atheist. It doesn't affect my career or my relationships. But if I'm transphobic I have to cater to their beliefs so my friends don't villainize me and so that I don't get cancelled. I aspire to be a content creator one day, hopefully. No one will care if I decide not to bring religion into my work because why would I if I'm an atheist? But If I slightly express I don't want any trans bullshit in my work I'll immediately get cancelled.
