I think it is somewhat interesting how the Disney corporation never came up with anything original besides that unsympathic scumbag mouse and although this thing is still in use as a figurehead for the whole corporation, it is nothing more than that. Instead of creating new worlds, new stories, new characters at their own, they prefer to spend their budget in buying up fictional worlds, stories and characters form other creators and then recycle it again and again until it finally ends up beyond recognition.

Yeah true, and then they literally extort congress to extend copyright law itself every time Mickey's copyright is about to expire. It's an empire sustained by force, no doubt

They have used a lot of public domain characters too, although of course those are running out due to, well, Disney extending copyright terms…
