What kind of masochist shows off their fountain pens but does not show the tip?

The tip is just the beginning

Do you draw with them or do calligraphy?

No, I write in notebooks and planners.

Jetstream is cheap, reliable and works every time. Although, I kinda like the top one. Used to have one but (guess what?) lost it. When you die, you get back all the pens you lost during your life: a huge pile of pens. https://files.catbox.moe/46deku.jpeg

Nice. How is the thickness of the lines with those? I have a Pilot Frixion pen where the tip is 0.5 mm but the lines is 0.7 mm, which is too thick, it isn't that pleasant to read. I read that Jetstream's tip is 1 mm but the line is 0.45 mm? That seems cozy.

The JetStream is 0.38 and the Pilot is 0.7. Usually there's a selection of sizes to choose from.

That's the size of the tip, but the size of the line can differ.

Hmm. To quote Justin Bieber: What do you mean? ;)

The former is literally how big the end of the pen is and determines how much pressure you need to apply while writing. The latter is how thick the lines are that come out of the pen. They correlate, but they can still differ. You want a small tip so that the lines aren't too thick, but you don't want it to be too small, so that you don't need to apply too much pressure.

Transgender fountain pen?

You forgot to tell us what is so special about these pens.

Truth is they look like pens that I could dig out of my junk drawer, no disrespect intended.

Oh yeah, they're dirt cheap and from Aliexpress. I buy them for their utility and cheap pens still work perfectly fine. Here's what's special about them, from top to bottom:

  • The green is thick / has a good grip, as well as a fine nib.
  • The transparent one is an eyedropper pen. You can't remove the ink drawing mechanism because everything is used to store ink. It's ink chamber is the biggest out of them all.
  • I just had to get the silver one because it's called the Jinhao 911. Perfect for a conspiracy nut.
  • The black / gold one is my favourite because it has both a fine nib and a bigger chamber.
