You know, I was thinking about this recently. Growing up I was a staunch supporter of gay rights and had (and still do!) some very close gay and lesbian friends, and I stand by that. I really do.

Anyway, through these people I saw some drag stuff like almost 20 years ago. It was funny and while bawdy, not necessarily all that inappropriate all things considered. If I had kids and drag was what it was 15-20 years ago, I don’t think I’d have a problem with like, drag queen story hour even, although taking kids to actual drag shows I’d still see as a bit much.

All of this being said, what drag is, who’s doing it, and what it represents has changed dramatically ever since this trans stuff took over in 2015 or so. It’s become like this super serious and humorless, unironic and highly sexualized ritual in which, for whatever reason, there’s this explicit goal of incorporating children into the whole thing, to the point here you have children actually “performing.”

Shit is messed up and honestly a lot of gays and lesbians aren’t about it either. Worried they’ll get fucked up in some sort of over correction to all of this.

It's already happening. Conservatives now are similar to how liberals used to think they were back when they were the exact opposite. I noticed it change suddenly after the rioting in the summer of 2020. They now all of a sudden hate America, want to purge gays, want more censorship, more government, like monarchy and dictatorship, hate Christianity, hate capitalism, hate individualism, want 1950s gender roles, some are even going racist and Nazi, they've lost it. And it has happened not only in online spaces like here, but in real life also. And if you disagree even the slightest you MUST be either a double agent or a coward. I keep my mouth shut irl because if I advocated the exact same things they did only 3 years ago, they'd call me part of the problem. They now hate Aaron Swartz, libertarians, me, go1dfish, etc. They're turning on people like Ben Shapiro because they're Jewish or something.

It's ironic how the masses have always Donald Trump, but before they were weary of him because they worried he might be a tyrant, and now they think he's not authoritarian enough.

You know, that’s pretty interesting. I don’t really run in any conservative circles in real life, but what you’re describing sounds like kind of a mirror to what I experienced in left wing communities in 2015-2016 or so. You remember, “punch a Nazi” and all that business. It honestly doesn’t surprise me that the right would go through something similar.

Purity spirals, man. What a mess.

That's exactly what it is. I am surprised but I also know I shouldn't be.

If it is OK to punch national Socialists, why not international socialists?

There is no form of totalitarianism totalitarian enough for me.

And that is the natural way of thinking. And it's not good.
