This bill creates an offense for a person who engages in an adult cabaret performance on public property or in a location where the adult cabaret performance could be viewed by a person who is not an adult. The bill defines an "adult cabaret performance" to mean a performance in a location other than an adult cabaret that features topless dancers, go-go dancers, exotic dancers, strippers, male or female impersonators who provide entertainment that appeals to a prurient interest, or similar entertainers, regardless of whether or not performed for consideration.

That article is full of lies. It also claims they "ban healthcare for trans youth".

In reality they only banned drag shows (defined as "male or female impersonators who provide entertainment that appeals to a prurient interest") on public property or where they're visible to minors.

Thanks. It was clear when I posted it that it wasn't a high quality article but I just wanted to get the story out there. Another thing I didn't like was the headline saying that Tennessee was marching back into the middle ages with this law. To me it seems that the law is progressive and other states will follow suit. Thanks for the link.

Honestly, I'm not a real big fan of these laws, because I do see the potential for them getting pushed to far. But at the same time, I understand this would never have happened if woke crew hadn't been doing some really sketchy stuff with kids and drag lately.

And exaggerating the law like this article did is not gonna help the situation. If anything, it'll make people in other states think banning drag shows is a reasonable step.

The law is more or less fair. I could get into the weeds with an argument about what is or is not drag or what kinds of it are problematic to have with kids or not but ultimately, those grey areas were taken advantage of by the people going into the schools with drag performances and naturally once you have anything even remotely sexual involving kids it creates a huge fucking loophole that the pedophiles can just walk right through and it needed to be closed.

The only real downside that I can think of coming from this is that making such performances classified as adult can be used to bully anyone into silence who wants to share the information of what happens in them if they go off script. Same reason you can't really talk about the connection between porn addiction and the trans epidemic

Its unconstitutional, being in drag and performing is part of the free exercise clause. I still don't think its right drag queens perform for kids. If Tennesse weren't bigots they could make it 18+ to see the shows.
