I was homeless once due to drug use, way in the past, like 30 years ago. All of my choices and decisions put me in that place. Upon getting myself together I took a little charity, sure, like a couch to sleep on and some decent clothes to find employment with. I have been a small business owner for the last 22 years with employees. I own a home and some rentals. Again, I got a bit of help to get back up, but no one paid my way. No welfare, no food stamps, nothing like that.

Nice, congratulations on cleaning up your life. My buds who didn't quit drugs are dead now, some of them died regardless of getting clean, the damage was done. I had an issue myself, quit in '04. I still like booze and weed, but I won't touch the harder stuff anymore. It's all contaminated with fent anyways, it's even more dangerous to be a drug user than ever.

No kidding, and thank you. I also quit the pain pills right about the time the fentanyl started to appear about eight years ago.

I was a single father with young children, while I worked full time and went to college full time. It was a struggle, but I wasn't homeless and supported my children well.

When I first entered my children into day care, the day care reported me to Child Protective Services, simply for being a single father.

The CPS were nice, found nothing wrong of course, and attempted to find programs to help me, so that wasn't all bad. They helped pay for some of the day care, which cost an insane amount of money, especially for my kids to come home with bite marks and other concerns. The day care absorbed that extra CPS money and charged me the same, which I suspect involved some greedy fraud.

hard life

In what way is it harder than any other working american? Getting up every day to go to work is hard. He is a bum, and a fat one at that. He is a leach on society. He should be ashamed of what he is doing, not expecting sympathy because his welfare checks aren't enough to get him a home in cabo.
