they knew exactly what they where doing and why. accidental gets to much leniency, this was intentional.

The proof that they know what they are doing is that it continues to this day. The FAA is certifying heart-damaged pilots to fly. There is no reasonable possibility that they don't understand at this point exactly what they are doing, and given that they understand it today, they have understood it all along.
