No one knows what is in that vape liquid. I have a friend in his 60's who tokes one one of those things nonstop. It’s gotta be worse than cigs.

It’s gotta be worse than cigs.

Contents of cigarette smoke:

  • nicotine
  • carbon dioxide (harmless)
  • carbon monoxide
  • tar
  • about 5000 other toxic chemicals
  • including literal radioactive elements.

Contents of e-cig "smoke":

  • nicotine
  • water vapour
  • maybe some flavouring.

Who the fuck knows what the flavouring does. But apart from that, it is an extraordinary claim to say that e-cigs are "worse" than regular cigarettes. It goes against literally everything we know about smoking tobacco. Now maybe it's true, but you're gonna need some mighty convincing evidence to prove it.

You seem to have some misconceptions about the contents of ecig vapor. You are primarily vaping propylene glycol, sometimes mixed with vegetable glycerine, not water, in quantities that absolutely dwarf anything that has been tested, and when heated it forms methylglyoxal, which is very concerning. In addition, you have atomizers that perform the vaporization and are known to impart heavy metals into the vapor. There is also strong evidence that ecig vapor significantly reduces testosterone while cigarette smoke does not.

It is VERY early in terms of the knowledge we have about the specific harms of e-cigarettes, plenty of things have been thought to be 'safe' or 'safer alternatives' that didn't out to be nearly as safe as we thought.

Hmm, well today I learned. Fair enough, and thank you.
