I didn't know that there was feed just for hens that lay eggs.

It's not just this lady, it is literally everyone. They know what they are doing, and have been doing it for decades. You are being gaslit.

Everyone with egg laying chickes did not suddenly become stupid and changed the feed to the wrong type. This happened to everyone all at the same time.

This is obviously because the feed changed without notice. This is what happens when one company has a monopoly.

If there was a monopoly they wouldn't have been able to go to the next-cheapest competitor and still have live hens instead of them starving their flocks when they stopped using this one kind of feed.
