I died from the covid vaccine but I'm grateful to be triple boosted or it would have been worse. Get vaccinated y'all!

Did you read the article or did you think OP's take on the headline was sufficiently preparing you to discuss the topic

Stay boosted and keep masking my friend, don't let the haters get you down.

So are these things which you learned from reading information, or do you just like the fun pictures on saidit

You should be wary of 'doing your own research', just trust the science and leave the thinking to the experts.

Well that's what I mean. Because it seems nobody here is doing any checks at all. Like you, for example - I was wondering whether, in threads like this one, you would ever check the content of the article, or was OP's take on the headline enough context for you

OP's caption read "this is not a meme". I'm not sure what you're suggesting here... that the article is a meme? Sounds like you're promoting misinformation.

Yes, correct, OP's caption did read that. And my question to you was - did you feel like you needed any additional information before reacting, or was OP's take on the headline sufficient information for you

And the link says

“The truth is we always knew we would see a growing proportion of vaccinated individuals among our COVID admissions,” said Dr. Shira Doron, infectious disease physician and hospital epidemiologist at Tufts Medical Center. “If 100% of the population were vaccinated — and that is what we wished for — then 100% of COVID hospitalizations and deaths would be among the vaccinated.”

Is this a meme? What's not to understand about it

"relative and absolute rates are different things"

Op be like: "what?! No they're not! You're kidding right? Is this not a meme?"

Here's the article

I know that this community prefers to pretend that headlines are all you ever have to read.

But if you want to check out the actual content, they explain it.

Why didn't OP link to the actual article? Why doesnt he want to grapple with reality and the messy explanation for things, instead of living only in headline world? You ought to be asking yourself why OP didn't think it was necessary to link to the full article.

Anyway they explain it, if you read the whole thing. Which op is incapable of doing, because if he did, it would be damaging to the make-believe world that headlines he sees sometimes contribute to

"The truth is we always knew we would see a growing proportion of vaccinated individuals among our COVID admissions,” said Dr. Shira Doron, infectious disease physician and hospital epidemiologist at Tufts Medical Center. “If 100% of the population were vaccinated — and that is what we wished for — then 100% of COVID hospitalizations and deaths would be among the vaccinated.”

I actually agree with you for once, screen shots of article headlines are suspect.

Although...

Studies have shown vaccine protection wanes

And

U.S. deaths from COVID-19 have steadily decreased.

But

not many people have received the most recent bivalent booster

Suggests the covid vaccine isn't all that useful.
