Isn't San Francisco a 3rd world shithole though?

Wait, no it's a first world shithole. For now.

It's getting there, seems like. I believe the person behind that, if it wasn't simply a bot, is a foreigner who bought a Cali number, or a more likely a whole bank of US numbers in order to trick gullible peoples.

What, don't you want to marry a Nigerian prince?

Thanks for posting that. I've been getting those about once a month, lately, but report them as a spammer and delete the text. I wondered what they were after. I sometimes get 5 spam calls a day now, too, but mostly from people wanting to buy my house. I did get one yesterday that was a police scam. I rarely answer unknown numbers these days because of them, but I often look them up later to see if they are the scammers calling or the telemarketers calling.

I used to get a lot of spam calls too. I like my Pixel phone because it has an auto screening feature. Numbers I don't know have to talk to a robot first. Really cuts down on what I have to deal with.

I don't know if it's still an issue, but Auto-downloading files sent through SMS was a security vulnerability. I assume whatever they sent had a tracker at best, and malware at worst. Besides that, I'm sure they'd love if they could cattish me into sending them money.

I tried that with u/Adventurous_Ad6212 once, but we're very happy together.

Should've asked for nudes to verify if that's a real Anna or not.

At best I'd get fake photos, at worst, a malicious file sent to me.

You technically can’t click shit any more. They get internet access through the browser now. The browser has been extremely effective in compromise phones.

It's always a gamble these days. At least the new Android OS's have some protections now, such as showing you which apps are active, and making permissions more transparent. Probably not foolproof, but better than hoping you're safe. Also have a phone carrier supplied antivirus running, also not sure how effective it is.
