Islam is bad. Every majority Muslim country is shitty and its people are miserable, conservative or liberal.

Yeah, I know. I'm just considering that, as Khamenei suspects, these protests are, in fact, being fueled in part by the West in an attempt to collapse the Islamic Regime. Now, I'm not saying the Iranian morality police are good guys. But we all know what happens when a brutal regime in the Middle East gets toppled; terrorists and even worse agents fill in the power vacuum.

And I'm not convinced that the kind of "freedom" many are calling for right now is actually going to be good for Iran. "Freedom" in 1978 under the Shah looked very different from "freedom" today.

I know you guys like to think that the West controls what all the brown people do and they can't think for themselves but that's not what's happening there. Rather, unlike the West, the majority of the population in Iran are under 30 and they are just fed up with the old guys in power telling them what to do. The whole thing moves like teen social media fad and both the Iranian and Western governments are playing catch-up because that's not their style.

But we all know what happens when a brutal regime in the Middle East gets toppled; terrorists and even worse agents fill in the power vacuum.

That's literally already happened in Iran. That's their current government.

I think the protests aren't so much about specific rights but against those morality police and the regime. The majority of protesters killed by the state so far have been young men, not women and girls. They are fighting to get basic control over their own lives, not for wokeness.
