When the site started, Idk, five years ago, Magnora7, said there would never be any ads on here and he has been right so far. But where is M7 now?

Also, SaidIt co-founder /u/d3rr covered significant costs, not to mention in the footer at the bottom of every SaidIt page you may DONATE cryptocurrencies or on Patreon, as many have.

Plus, soon I'll post new /s/Cassy developments about fundraising to pay for professional sysadmins to set up a few decentralized instances to start, and with success several more to federate and play with. I won't begin fundraising until everything is 100% certain. Based in Windsor, my name will register these sites which will be openly self-managed with bottom-up regulation by the community, rather than top-down - as examples to the world of ethical alternatives and solutions. The Windsor/Toronto admins and coders will remain generally anonymous for their own reasons. In Windsor we now have a second VPS to play with, more indie-servers to set up, and hopefully our local instances may be catalysts for the network to grow so that anyone may join and spread federated free-thinking and decentralized truth-seeking around the world.

    There's an investor, namely the guy on whose podcast m7 appeared a couple of years ago. How they will monetize it is another matter, but that doesn't need to happen straight away. Imgur wasn't monetized for the longest time, it was just a plain image host without fluff or ads (afaik).
