It turns out that some people are transsexual, and the best treatment is to let them live according to how they perceive themselves.

Any evidence for that?
Or do you think that feeling you are being kind is more important that actual good outcomes?

Yeah, there's heaps of evidence for that.
It drops the death by suicide and depression, which by itself is sufficient. But it also is strongly related to resolving other mental health issues.
There's dozens of papers on this now. here's a few:

Certainly not. Better physical and psychological health outcomes should determine the treatment.

I am willing to accept that, just maybe, some adults with certain forms of mental illness are best treated by surgery and drugs to transition from one sex to the other. In the same way I will accept that maybe the least-worst way to treat some people is to amputate healthy limbs.
But we're talking about adults who have already tried everything else, or at least are going into this with their eyes open. We can support the right of adults to fuck themselves up so long as they aren't hurting others.
Pushing this transgender ideology onto non-conforming kids (tomboys, gays, lesbians, children who are confused by puberty, suffering from anxieties, autistic kids, etc) is not medical care. It is medical abuse.
Do you have any case studies of this abuse?
