Fantastic illustration of the problem. This is the process that destroys government-centered societies. We are now a government-centered society, and it's mind-blowing to see how quickly two centuries of relatively de-centralized wealth creation can be undone. The mindset started in the universities, and until those institutions are discredited (and forced to make a profit without the massive subsidy of government-backed loans), we can't begin to address the problem. We need to realize as a society that our universities 50 years ago ceased to be about critical thinking, becoming rather only about credentialing large organization mid-wits. Having a college degree must be recognized from here forth as nothing more than a gold star for obedience to power. It's a tragic process to watch play out.

Right, we should go back to the universities of the 30s and 40s that were trying to start a eugenics program by having nude photos be part of the application process and only admitting people above a certain threshold of attractiveness

I'd still choose that over the Marxist indoctrination camps universities have become.

You would literally take eugenics over your warped perception of modern universities. oy vey.

Lesser of two evils. Shalom.

Interesting. I've never heard this before. A new thread to pull on...

Obedience to power, and a debt slave.

You can’t help but wonder: Why?

Because a bunch of utterly useless people need to justify their continued hold on the only jobs that they're qualified to do. As such, it's not about actually improving anything, but keeping the system churning along and the parasites attached to it happy.

That . . . has nothing to do with housing

Like auto, "housing" involves a lot of moving parts. Carpentry and cabinetry are two critical components of the finishes on a house. If the cost of those goes up, the costs of housing go up. Then multiply the cost-increases he is describing here through all the other feeder industries into housing.

Glad it wasn't just me thinking that...

That's a great article. I work in fire safety engineering and there are huge overlapping themes in getting building inspector approval too!

Typical creation of compliance requirements to regulate something that is not in need of regulation. A department created this problem to justify their funding. It is seen in all sorts of industries now. It is shameful and a waste of tax payer dollars.

And this is why China might just win in the long run.

[–]Insider 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (1 child)

There's a lot of reasons why China may "win". China uses a large chunk of its money to develop domestically. A lot of US tax payer dollars go towards the military industrial complex, 1%, propaganda operations and towards foreign policy. US have their money spread across numerous countries, Ukraine is only one of them.

In terms of why China may lose is that the US plays dirty. They've already enacted sanctions and bombed key parts of China's Belt and Road Initiative to slow down their growth. They may incite a regional or world war in order to prevent China's rise.

China is also willing to play dirty. They will not put up with America's shit for long. Russia and China will work together in a war against America. India might stay neutral, but if the Indians notice the truth about global politics they will swallow their pride and side with China and Russia. That’s over a third of the world's population vs America and its lapdogs. And America has plenty of internal problems that could bring about its own collapse.
