Believe it or not, homosexuality is actually legal in most of Indonesia. There are parts of it where it's illegal, like Aceh province, but it's legal in Bali. The man (or woman?) got arrested for bringing drugs into the country. Then the student made it an LGBT struggle. Because we all know how entitled and retarded shitlibs are. Now it is dead.

You can be gay in Indonesia. Just don't be a fag about it.

Reading on it seems like Bali is mostly tolerant of foreign gays at least (unsurprising since it's a tourist resort) also doesn't seem majority Muslim.

This is just another classic example of foreigners getting picked up at the airport with drugs.

I think was it Indonesia or Malaysia that executed those Australians recently and caused a bit of a fuss.

[–]RedEyedWarrior 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Malaysia would definitely execute those who bring drugs into their territory.

Yeah.. aceh is very strict.. but I am sure there are LGBT persons in Indonesia, but I am sure they don't advertise.

[–]RedEyedWarrior 2 insightful - 2 fun2 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 2 fun -  (0 children)

Not that there is any need to advertise. What you do in private is your own business. Furthermore, PDAs from straight couples are not tolerated anyway.

Holiday in Bali is probably one of the most overprivileged upper middle class Ivy League college grad bullshit I have ever seem in my life. I wish they would execute all of these types that go there.

one side of bali that many are not aware of is how stone age they are about the handling of psychiatric patients.

Lesbians for Indonesia.

when i was in indonesia, i was in a small town called bogor... south of jakarta(the capital) and while i was there, i stayed in a fairly nice hotel in a neighborhood.. it had a big sign in the hotel lobby that was about five feet tall and about two feet wide... it said in big letters, "NO HOMOSEX, NO LESBIAN".

i dont think they are playing.

they will literally execute you, because that is the punishment that is described for homosexuals in the quran.

Yeah I've been accused of homophobia for suggesting to some people that they should go deep into the closet on trips to these sorts of places. It's "insulting to have to change myself for other people's sake, if they don't accept me that's their problem I don't care about offending bigots."

Nah mate, they make it your problem cause they'll literally murder you. But you want to be a raging suicidal dumbass that bad nobody can stop you.

Naturally the same type of person stupid enough to be an openly gay activist in a Muslim country is also going to be the same kind of person dumb enough to bring cannabis because "they have a prescription"

Doesn't matter if you have a prescription it's still illegal. God these people are so stupid.

I feel bad for the family in this case cause naturally the circumstances of death are sketchy as fuck. But hopefully this serves as a warning to people in the future. If you are gay or whatever you can travel to these places but be damn well aware you don't have "gay rights" there and cultural attitudes are not with you. It's extremely wise to stay deep in the closet.

If you're going to be bringing drugs of any kind be damn fucking sure they are 100% above board prescription or not. If you're bringing cannabis of any kind or think it's not a big deal you're going to have a very very bad time. A very bad time. Forever.

imo if you can't be arsed checking local laws before you fly to a country then you get everything you deserve.

[–]Alienhunter 5 insightful - 3 fun5 insightful - 2 fun6 insightful - 3 fun -  (0 children)

Especially now in the internet era.

It's usually total dumbasses that get in trouble. You get some idiot college kid that wants to play "I know my rights! I'm don't have to listen to the cops! I plead the fifth! You think you can just ask me for ID based on my race!"

No comprendo Ingles senor. Su pasaporte, por favor.

there are some places, like aceh(pronounced AH-CHAY) in indonesia, where you seriously want to mind your manners in public.

dont even get caught kissiing or showing affection in public.. oh fuck no.. they will beat you with a cane stick in public.. i understand that it hurts a bit and it is embarassing.

[–]Alienhunter 7 insightful - 1 fun7 insightful - 0 fun8 insightful - 1 fun -  (5 children)

Getting caned in public is fairly benign compared to some of the more extreme punishments prescribed by Sharia. But you are generally wise to avoid any PDA while traveling in unfamiliar cultures regardless of who you are.

[–]superglowie[S] 4 insightful - 3 fun4 insightful - 2 fun5 insightful - 3 fun -  (4 children)

i think that the quran says to take the homosexual to the highest place and to throw him to the lowest place, which basically means to throw him off of a cliff or off a buildiing.

a mustlim country is not the place to wear a rainbow and to demand that others use your preferred pronouns.

they will toss you off a cliff.

allahuakbar.

[–]Alienhunter 3 insightful - 2 fun3 insightful - 1 fun4 insightful - 2 fun -  (2 children)

Can't find that in the Quran might be in the Hadith. I think the Quran basically just had the story of Lut. (Lot in the Bible) and the destruction of Sodom. The references towards homosexual behavior also seems far more obvious than in the Bible.

The Hadith outright says to kill gay people.

[As narrated by Sayyidna Ibn ` Abbas. ؓ the Holy Prophet ﷺ said: "If you find someone doing what the people of Lot did, kill both the doer and the one with whom it is done.]

[–]superglowie[S] 3 insightful - 2 fun3 insightful - 1 fun4 insightful - 2 fun -  (1 child)

the quran/hadiths tend to say the same thing over and over again, saying it different ways..

(a) homosexuality is absolutely a forbidden activity.

(b) those who are not muslim need to either convert or be enslaved or be executed.

(c) i havent been to prayers in a few years now, i must return soon, inshaAllah.

Enact Sharia Law at every USA Pride or Gay Day parade when the freaks engage in X-rated behaviors in public.

There are hundreds of countries I wouldn't go to alone as a woman so I don't get the arrogance of thinking you can just waltz into any country and expect to be treated like royalty at all.

Of course social media doesn't help. There are thousands of blogs about "why you shouldn't be scared to go to X because of Y" and a handful of sensible posts telling you to stay safe. Everyone wants to be see and non-judgemental, bold, tolerant and no one wants to be accused of being mean.

But I personally will never go to an Arab country again and I'm not going to pay tourist taxes to a communist state. You have to have the same morals in travelling as you do at home and in how you spend your money the rest of the time. If you are an actual trans rights campaigner why would you even consider giving your money to a transphobic state and society. Oh, it's because they think transphobia is white western imperialism, fucking idiots.

[–]Alienhunter 4 insightful - 1 fun4 insightful - 0 fun5 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Hundreds seems like an exaggeration to me since there's less than 200 countries total in the world, but I'm being pedantic, I agree in general. It's very much not safe for single female travelers to go to Arab countries.

Now I think a lot of the dangers that people fret about while traveling are highly exaggerated. But that's only if you travel smart. Some places you don't want to go to, some places you only want to go to at certain times. Some places are fine if you go on a tour but aren't safe to manage solo unless you really know what you are doing.

Like you want to travel in Mexico and take precautions to stay safe, you'll probably be fine if you know where to go where to avoid and keep your wits about you. You wanna go to Mexico to party and do drugs....... yeah that's not so smart.

In this case I just see more red flags than a 2nd world block party. Trans-man, I don't know the Indonesian attitude towards that, but I'd be wary they might not be cool seems like a quagmire could form. Trans LGBTQ+ activist, bigger red flag, means you might not know when to shut up and keep a low profile. Trans activist going on your gay honeymoon in a country that is majority Islam? Yeah you definitely don't know how to keep a low profile what the fuck are you thinking? Need canabis for mental health medication and are just bringing it into a country where it's super fucking illegal. Like "you will be executed" level. Uhhhhhh, at this point you've made so many lapses in judgement I'm kinda surprised you managed to reach your 30's at all.

[–][deleted] 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

so I don't get the arrogance of thinking you can just waltz into any country and expect to be treated like royalty at all.

Reminds me of a part from Mental Floss by Jim Morrison:
You can't pin that one on me
I didn't do a goddamn thing
I was just standing there
Then a bunch of guys came up
and started laying all this shit on me
Now what am I supposed to do?
I'm an American! You can't touch me!

The trick is to be an American and be in a country that doesn't want to annoy the US.

[–]RedEyedWarrior 5 insightful - 1 fun5 insightful - 0 fun6 insightful - 1 fun -  (5 children)

I'm gay and what you've said is sensible. If I visit a country where homosexuality is illegal, like Uzbekistan or Jamaica, I should obey the law and keep my sexuality to myself so that I don't get arrested. Besides, who needs to know my sexuality anyway? I'm not out to my co-workers simply because nobody asked. Why would I tell people in country I'm visiting for just a few days that I'm only into men?

So many shitlibs have this tunnel vision where every society is like western civilisation. They think that the laws of Portland Oregon will apply to Dubai or Bali. They won't. Having a prescription for weed doesn't make a difference. If you are visiting another country, research the laws of that country before you arrive so that your habits don't conflict with their laws and customs.

[–]jet199Instigatrix 5 insightful - 3 fun5 insightful - 2 fun6 insightful - 3 fun -  (1 child)

I get worried about taking my probiotic pills through customs. I can't understand the entitlement of these people.

But then again maybe it's not entitlement but a victim complex/Munchausens. Them crying about whatever psychosomatic illness they are taking weed for usually gets them sympathy and attention so they expect that fawning from everyone. The same with their trans status. It's not so great to be an actual victim compared to larping as a victim.

[–]RedEyedWarrior 3 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 0 fun4 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Definitely the victim complex. Victim points are currency in the west. Not so much in the rest of the world, where pity parties are not a thing.

Furthermore, I do not believe that weed alleviates diseases.

[–]Alienhunter 5 insightful - 2 fun5 insightful - 1 fun6 insightful - 2 fun -  (2 children)

I think some of these people think they are simply better than the backwards foreigners so they don't have to follow their laws, others simply see the value of the cause as paramount above all others and have some kind of Christ complex I think, white savior shit.

It's not much different than Christian missionaries overtly breaking visa rules and proselytizing in countries where it's not allowed. Most recent one was that dumbass that went to the island with the feral tribe that kills outsiders on sight. He said God was with him and would protect him. God didn't.

"John Allen Chau (December 18, 1991 – November 17, 2018) was an American Evangelical Christian missionary who was killed by the Sentinelese, a self-isolated uncontacted people, after illegally traveling to North Sentinel Island, India in an attempt to convert the tribe to Christianity."

Wondering if those folks cooked the lad up and ate him. Waste of good protein if they did not.

[–]RedEyedWarrior 3 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 0 fun4 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

The white saviour complex runs deep through white liberals and certain (but not all) evangelical Christians. They don’t understand that other cultures (including other Christian cultures) don’t want their shit.

I hope Bali becomes the hottest tourist stop for the whole LBGTQRSTUWXYZ crowd. Let's organize a gay pride parade and let trannies strip for their children in Jakarta.

"He’d just arrived in Bali for his honeymoon when Indonesian police arrested the Peruvian Harvard Kennedy School of Government graduate student and transgender activist Rodrigo Ventocilla. Customs officials at the Denpasar airport had detained him for carrying “items containing cannabis” in his luggage. His husband, Sebastían Marallano, would arrive on a later flight and also be detained.

Five days later, Ventocilla, age, 32, died in policy custody. His family is looking for answers and Harvard is supporting them. "

His "husband???" must be heartbroken? Maybe. Maybe not. Reports are the the Gay boys really like a horde of male partners to perform their Gay stuff with.

If the Bali folks did kill the Gay boy it may have been due to that idiotic hunk of metal skewered through hit LGBTQ+ nose.

yeah, he probably ran his mouth and if he said something where he used curse words and the quran in the same sentence, that is a death penalty offense and is not tolerated.
