Children used to lead armies at 12. What you consider 16 today is not what 16 used to be.

Modern western society is designed to prevent maturing into an adult. In our household we consider a man capable of leading his house at the age of 14, if he was raised by the methods of the house. Those from outside we say 16 years is enough.

You found it. "Age" is a very imprecise measure.

More generally, as in all areas of our society, the west continues down the path of authoritarianism. The concept that it is the business of our corporate/government leaders to decide when and how we live every aspect of our personal life. Sexual morality is most effectively controlled by the family unit. Does it work all the time? Absolutely not. Incest and abuse have existed since the beginning of humanity. That said, a culture that binds families to the ideal of controlling their members was far more effective at limiting the social breaches than government is proving to be. The more laws like this that are put in, the more the social norms are degrading.

I will note: I do not actually support OP, as he is clearly retarded. Marriage and responsibility can start early, but I think 16 is the absolutely bare minimum for child bearing and even then I would say 18-20 are the best years. The idea of older men going after much younger women is also a sign of bad parenting.

In the past 16 year olds used to look as 12 year olds do now and 12 year olds were little children.

Lots of children were used and abused by people controlling them in the aristocracy.

That's just more evidence children need protecting.

Children are the most important thing in society, sure, I'm in line with that. Now, define what a child is? How many people in their 20s in today's times can still be considered children?
