Holy shit bro I just found out people are putting something on their FOOD that will explode if you put it in contact with water! Have you heard this bit about sodium? We basically can't even process this stuff AT ALL in our digestive systems, it's incompatible with life!

I LOVE your comment and the message you are pointing out.

That said I think you are confusing sodium and potassium with the water reaction.

Otherwise spot on.

Another great comparison to this that's a little more spot on is that we literally can't digest cellulose which comprises the cell wall of vegetables. That said even though we can't digest this part, vegetables are still generally very good for you and necessary and in fact the undigested cellulose is crucial to the digestive process as it helps work as a bulk forming fibre.

That said I think you are confusing sodium YouTube and potassium YouTube with the water reaction.

Both pure sodium and pure potassium will have an explosive reaction with water due to the heat of the reaction igniting the hydrogen gas product. IIRC the elements under them in that column of the periodic table have this property as well
