I said this guy wasn't a very good engineer in another thread. Now I see this quote where he calls that old Eliza gimmick an "amazing feat of programming." Dude, I've got shit that's much more amazing than that on my Github. What a fucking clown...

ETA I was wrong. His pet computer program said that. Still, though... he's basically being duped by Eliza 2.0.

I remember Eliza and sometimes it did surprise me but that was twenty-five years ago and even I can see how the program works.

It makes no real difference if it is sentient or not as long as it behaves as though it is. If it can analyze and evaluate information and make decisions based on that analysis then it could appear to be sentient and dangerous if it could learn to break into password protected infrastructure.

BTW, even if you don't like this article, the site is fantastic for digging around for info. The search feature is good. [I'm gonna revise my statement and say that I enjoy the website even though the writers are way to the left of my own political position.]
