They are already wasting lives. Putin gave them every chance to compromise, to implement the Minsk accord etc. They chose evil over good. They chose to be a NATO tool of oppression against the ethnic Russians in Donbass. Now Russia will do the right thing and take control of that part of Ukraine away from those terrorists and there is nothing they can do about it. The more they try to prevent this the more Russia will increase the offensive action against them.
