The central conceit of Kony 2012—repeated over and over—if enough people know who Kony is, his reign would end. The reason it imploded so fast was that pretty soon, it became clear that enough people _did_ know who he was. This was the first time "awareness" was proven to fail.

Didn't the guy behind that campaign end up having a mental breakdown and they found him jerking his junk wearing nothing but a trenchcoat in a highway median?

Yup. The whole thing was a tremendous amount of bullshit from people who think feelings trump facts.

They learned nothing, unfortunately.
