It’s the sugar that leads to the addiction.

Sugar is definitely super addictive, but if you're a fan of Coke, nothing else replaces it, which makes me think it is something unique to Coca Cola. Otherwise any sugary drink would work for that Coke craving.

Well it’s the taste you prefer and it’s supply is abundant. If they removed Coke from the market you would just replace it with another drink.

Coke was removed from the market and it was an awful couple years. They replaced it with the awful New Coke.

Personally I rarely drink them these days, they're kinda pricey now. But that desire doesn't go away.

I think we don't have a great choice of non-alcoholic drinks in the west which aren't either acidic or super sweet.

There just isn't a great range of things to replace it.

Coke is extremely acidic. It's more acidic than most citrus-based drinks. However, it causes less dental erosion because citric acid binds more strongly to calcium than phosphoric acid does.

As long as we're getting addicted to something anyway, they should go ahead and put a feelable amount of coca in there.
