In the bigger picture, while the pyramid of debate is fine in and of itself, when a dishonest individual argues in bad faith they usually never state their main point up front. It's something that really bugs me, motte and bailey bullshit. Whenever I've found myself falling for it in the past I ended up at the contradiction phase....THAT'S RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE, right off the bat, without even noticing until the frustration sets in.
