Apparently they just decided it wasn't the best book for that age group but are still happy for kids to read it.

True free speech must always be allowed even if you disagree with it

some figure it has animal characters to appeal to children, in order to get them young and make them think the holocaust happened. That's probably true, Animal Farm by Orwell is like that too and that has a valuable message. Instead of just banning something allow it, but one can use the same tactics for other propaganda like having a story with anthropomorphic characters that criticizes something like the woke agenda for example.

This isn’t true. There is ALWAYS a time and place. You could construe exposing your self to children as speech. That should never be allowed in free speech.

Also, pornography could be categorized as speech. An expression of one’s sexuality. Children should not be exposed to that.

Violence. War. Etc. all can go into free speech.

Parents right to raise their children far out weights your claim to free speech. Common decency far outweighs your right to free speech.

If you involve children or adults that don’t want to be involved, you are pressing the limits of free speech.

My daughter doesn't want our grand daughter to watch Baby Shark or Cocomellon. Guess what she always wants to watch? Telling a kid they can't read or watch something is a surefire way to get them to want it.

Yes another reason why not to ban books

Brilliant classic - but propaganda. I keep lending (giving) my copies away.

I don't always consider propaganda to be a dirty word. In it the writer of Maus shows hos he isn't sure how much of what his father tells him of the holocaust is true, how some of his fathers characteristics make him look bad such as being greedy and a miser and being racist against black people. It shows some of the jews collaborating with nazis and not being all perfect at all times, I appreciate that as opposed to most holocaust propaganda. That Louis Riel looks pretty good, I will need to check that out.

I don't always consider propaganda to be a dirty word.

It depends who's doing it, to what end, and more. "Public relations" is the new spin on it. "AgitProp"/"PropAgit" is good but is dominated by a specific style genre, so I like "counter-propaganda" as the opposition to the typical corporatocracy propaganda.

I think the guy who wrote Maus felt guilty about it, he was a poor cartoonist and had writers block so he just wrote a story based on what his dad told him. But then felt guilty that he profited over it, that's why he never allowed it to be made into an animated movie.
