How do you know it was covaids as opposed to any other cold or flu?

The friend who gave it to me tested positive for covid, and the symptoms were extremely similar to the last 2 times I had it. So it's extremely likely it was covid

From what I have been told by my brother in law (but he had mild Omicrons): You sleep a lot, sometimes sore joints - super runny nose and phlegm. If it wasnt for the sleeping/tiredness he would have thought it was a normal flu
