Do you have friends? Maybe spend more time with them and enjoy the simple things in life. If you regularly do something fun to which you can look forward, your mood will improve.

I look forward to something, then it happens and I don't feel it.

The simple things in life used to be my favorite. Too bad my brain doesn't comprehend them anymore.

That's something you can choose.

You can choose to look at the autumn leaves and appreciate them or not.

It's what you decide to focus your energy on.

That's a blue pill. I've tried so hard to enjoy or even notice those things again. But no dice. My brain or the matrix controlling it hates me.

No, you have got yourself in bad mental habits.

You need to be tough with yourself to quit them and stop begging for sympathy on here.

Okay, but what are those things you look forward to? Is it spending time with friends?

Maybe add some variety to your life. Find new hobbies, meet new people.

Everything. Imagine a drug that, instead of making you euphoric, makes you depressed and irritated constantly. And takes away almost every positive feeling, even dulling your physical senses, and takes away all your talent so you can't do any hobbies at all.

Except it's not a drug. It's your brain.

Have you tried professional help?

[–]Vulptex[S] 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (2 children)

I'm trying to look into it but it's easier said than done. And they can only do so much for me.

You may not be as "odd" as you think and a professional will be able to zero in on what's going on with your mental state and give advice on how to get you where you need to be. If nothing else, they offer a way for you to verbalize and visualize what's going on in your head. This may lead you to an "a-ha" moment.

That's what I'm holding out the last bit of hope I have for. That or medication.

Anhedonia.

Thanks, I'll definitely look into this one.
