I've watched some video of youtube kids hiking miles into the exclusion zone to explore the town. There's a massive old Soviet radar array that's hundreds of feet tall, and about a 1/4 mile long, just to the south. Shiey and BadCat on youtube.

I'm glad I lived long enough for google streetview to come along. People who missed the radio and television era will never get how radical the change has been.
