it's just that you are ignorant about geopolitics and history
you "regular citizens" believe in the dumbest conspiracies like there is a deadly plague or russians hacking elections, you think Jimmy Kimmel is a moral authority, and Bill Gates opinion matters, etc. etc. maybe read a little basic history (even mainstream) and it will all make sense

Could be true.
you "regular citizens" believe in the dumbest conspiracies like there is a deadly plague or russians hacking elections
Well Covid is probably not as deadly as other plagues in the past, but it's still there, no? You think you're invincible to some virus China let out of some cavern/lab?
Not sure about Russia hacking elections, but they definitely have their own interests and the technology, and history of authoritarian bullshit like communism. What would be wrong in thinking they might want to influence opinions of people for example?
Also electronic voting machines are actually prone to hacking, very cringe. Nothing beats a paper ballot that can be recounted any time.
