The omission of a picture is worth a thousand words.

there is a pic
probably just cuz everyone in NYC has heard of the case. The title should mention his race though. You know it would if a white teen boy killed someone.

My mistake. The site isn't available in the EU. I searched for the topic in a popular search engine and saw that most articles were as is expected of them.
Perhaps they didn't know whether the AP capitalisation rule still applies in this context, because arguably murdering a lady counts as metooing them.

that's fine and really I don't blame many for just reading the title and not the article because besides not being available to all there isn't really much to add here, a teen killed a girl. The title has the who what why kind of things needed here. But what is funny is what any decently smart person can tell from this which isn't specifically said. From the name of the girl, Tessa Majors, and the fact she went to college, you can tell she is white. From the description of the boy, a teen boy who killed someone, you can tell he is black. If it also added that he was white of course then you'd know he is white, but white teens kill so few people they'd need to include that if it was the case.

Partly it's predictable what the article is going to be from where it's posted. If I saw the same article posted on reddit news, I'd assume the article would be about some "incel". To what degree different kinds of people do crimes I don't really know - i just have an idea of what tends to get reported in different places.

Sure. I mean, I had an expectation that this would include some kind of double standard because it was posted in saidit.
