Frankly I'm not a big gamer but I really found social media to be very close to playing a game. You keep trying to get to a certain level, a certain amount of likes and you often don't realise you were doing that until you step away.

When I got to my first thousands followers on twitter my urge to keep tweeting completely disappeared. I'd won the game I didn't even realise I was playing. While I was building up my followers I really thought I was making friends and liked people on there. But no, I was just trying to get to 1k to prove I could.

It does make me wonder if depression causes it.

To make their life seem cooler than it really is. Clout.

also for money

even before internet was invented people tried to be celebrities such as actors or musicians

a fun easy way to make money but you need lots of fans

After 15 years of making no money, people still be bragging on facebook daily. I get people doing it every once in a while, but some of these folks might be addicted.

true

they are addicted to the hope that they become rich. Like playing lottery where it is highly unlikely you win yet people waste money on it every day. Most americans think they are temporarily embarassed millionaires. Not many people want to do the real hard work to become rich like starting your own business or going to college for a legit degree.

What are some good degrees? I went to college but my degree is worthless.

Is computer science a good one?

it is ok but I would say no actually, that type of job was hyped before the dotcom bubble burst in around 99 but since then there aren't that many jobs, it is cutthroat. If interested in computers first I would get into IT and you don't need to get such an expensive 4 year degree in computer science for that.

Being a social media user does the opposite of making a person seem cool.

Society and the media thinks otherwise.

Agreed it depends on who is doing the perceiving.

Well hot girls make money showing off their tits and ass until they age out and become sad worn out husks pathetically trying to hang on to their fleeting beauty.
