This is a good way to put it. I'm relatively open to racial integration as long as the goal is (relative) cultural homogeneity. This worked well in the U.S. for European descendants: while white people in the U.S. do still respect subtle differences between (say) Italians and Irish, there is not really much meaningful difference between European-descended Americans beyond a kind of memory or respect for ancestral distinctions. Even Latinos and Asians who assimilate are able to contribute to a larger sense of united tribe/nationality. But this doesn't work when open hostility against "white" culture is promoted and people are incentivized to retain cultural practices that are radically at odds with the majority.

Yep. A common sense of being a citizen of the greatest country in history helped create the sense of belonging. Unfortunately the post modernist bandits have been working hard to demoralise America.
