Haven’t played that since I was a kid.. idk why it’s been so long, I don’t play video games that much anymore, I guess. i gotta play it again sometime tho. I actually really liked wind waker, the art style was dope, it had really cool elements like the “sailing-free-roam” and talking boat, and the story itself was good too.

You should! It's great! I'm not an old man YET but my grandma got me my first Zelda game (on the Gameboy brick) when I was ~10 and it got me hooked on the series. I've played almost all of them, to the detriment of my pocket book, but Breath of the Wild and Windwaker are my favs by a long shot... (Minish cap is shortly behind them)

I love how open world both are. They are still Zelda games so you can't progress to certain areas or get certain quests without picking up specific items but you really could just sail around (or run/glide) and chitter chat with folks without having to really press the story very much. I think I had 100 hours in BotW before I fought Ganon....and it was a bit of a letdown. I can't even count how many times I've beaten Windwaker on the GC and the WiiU.

Breath of the Wild was kind of a let down for me :( Dont get me wrong - the game was great, it was fun, and I put over 100 hours into it. However, it just felt lacking as far as the villages, npc’s, etc went. At least for me. I didn’t feel much need to interact with them, and I could fly through the game at any point if I wanted to, sneaking past baddies that were way too strong for me (like on the way to fight Ganon)

Majora’s Mask is to me what wind waker is to you, and I love that game so much because of the deep story and theme, and interaction with characters and different cultures. You really feel that no matter the culture, we’re all one and friendship and love are important.. never abandon family, especially when the going gets rough as that’s when they need you the most.

That game still tugs at my heart strings, and I’ve beat it countless times. I love the ending on the moon and the interaction with all the moon children and majora itself, all of the philosophical questions they ask you are truly thought provoking.

There was a lot of depth for a kids game! I too though, used to free roam in wind waker for hours. Just sailing and coming across random enemies on watch posts in the middle of the ocean or near islands was fun as you said.

Those three games, oot, mm and wind waker came out in pretty quick succession and all three were great imho. I’ve played the majority of the Zelda games too, but those take my top three.
