I was just on a binge watching videos like this with body cam footage from police departments released for transparency. I had no idea things were this bad. This gave me a new insight into why cops are the way they are and I have a lot more respect for them. These two videos alone honestly adrenalized me. I know I wouldn’t be able to handle seeing everything they do. Literally any stop could be death for them, and these videos show it.. and it sucks.

In this video, you see death happen within seconds, over a stupid mistake, and the man shoots at, injures and kill the people who just saved his life (The 13-year Fire fighter vet who was there with him from the beginning and helped save him was the first one dead).

Another similar video - a gang banger is forced to the hospital for his own physical well being, everyone is taking care of him. A HUGE amount of red flags in this video too - I’m sure these videos are used for police training now.

He too, starts a shoot out but this time in a hospital (the cop was so chill and wasn’t even worried about him being a criminal - was just worried about his health, and let him get in the ambo after barely searching him), and inures the people trying to save him. Then like the other evil asshole in the OP, begs for help once he’s put down when this never had to happen, and they never stood a chance of fighting their way out in the beginning.. and these people just care about you, are doing their jobs, and just saved your lives:

Here’s a bonus one for you guys, this one broke my heart, but as nice as the cops were, they really mucked this one up (again, you’ll notice many red flags - they could have prevented this):

If your local police department has some kind of "citizen's police academy", I recommend enrolling. I did about 15 years ago and it was eye opening. I think it was an 8 to 12 week course; 3 hours, once a week. Each week was the focus of a different aspect of the department. One night, we watched videos of officers being killed with explanations of how procedure has changed because of them.

There are most definitely a few corrupt officers, especially in certain big cities, and there are a few who join the force for the power trip, but almost all police officers are there to help people. I can see how their view of people can get "mechanical", though. Interactions with officers can seem cold, but their brains are processing all the scenarios of what could happen in a given situation. The next time you're around a police officer, pay attention to their eyes. They are trained to always look at people's hands.

Exactly. This is what I meant when I said “I understood police more”. The shit in the videos above, where two men’s lives were just saved only for the rescuers to be killed..

That would make me cold too. I wouldn’t care about anything but doing my job, and getting home to my family alive that day.

Also, I never even knew that was a thing. That’s an awesome idea, I’m sure it’s good for networking too. Thank you for sharing the experience and idea!
