My bread usually sucks but today I made two. A plain one the wife and I ate, and one with Everything but the Bagel seasoning. The plain one was delicious. The other one was for my father but I didn't see him for Father's Day.

Normally we get him old scotch but we're saving for a road trip. I mean hell, we ate bread for dinner. What was that book about Pip and the criminal? They ate bread and butter. I did make a honey butter blend, that was tasty.

I'll see him later today and give it to him. His mother used to make homemade bread and my Mom is like fuck that noise. I don't blame her, bread is hard. But I thought he'd like it and it's way cheaper than good scotch.

I lived on ramen noodles and canned tuna for days at a time when I was in school. I read a journal from a great.....great grandfather who was in the Confederate States Army and he wrote about getting a palmful of grits as a daily ration. Sometimes only bread is ok. I hope you got to spend some good, quality time with your father.

Free expired gas station food, and bean and cheese burritos were my college staples. My friend worked at a gas station and they were allowed to eat the expired stuff. It was still good, just couldn't sell it any more. Used to eat these packaged chili cheese dogs, but I used fresh buns. It was pretty good despite how it sounds.

Grits beats hard tack any day, although both are pretty meh.

I saw my father yesterday. He seemed happy I didn't forget about him, although it was late for Father's Day.

Yes! I used to buy frozen bean & cheese burritos by the case. Those were around $0.30 each. The ramen was $0.12 each when bought by the case. I remember getting all the free Panera Bread pastries I wanted because of a similar situation as your gas station food.

I haven't had any hard tack, but we are thinking about making some, just because. I love grits with butter.
