Yeah, I get the joke, but who else but autistic orientals would join a "math team" in the first place?

On a serious note, I would have liked to join the math team as a kid. I loved math back in my early school years, and excelled at it. Numbers and logic were my jam, I really enjoyed simple and complex equations, and pushed myself to become better and better at breaking and solving puzzles, as fast as I could.
Unfortunately, my upbringing did not encourage ... well, anything encouraging. Team/group activities were seen as gateways for me become an evil wrongdoer since I was interacting with others and possibly forming my own sense of self instead of abiding by familial authority. I wasn't allowed to do things that might result in independent thoughts and feelings, including math or science or other pursuits.
I was also told numerous times I wasn't living up to my own potential from outsiders. I ended up slacking my way to mediocrity, constantly questioning my own self worth, and am never quite satisfied or content or happy with anything in my life.
Kinda wish I went the way of the math club, tbh.

You're better off without it. As the man said, don't let schooling interfere with your education.
I was in the band, which took up too much fucking time as it was. At least it was a break from the pretense that school was academically rewarding. Which it wasn't.

You missed the point.
You were in band and did not find it personally rewarding, but your authority figures said you must do it and it was correct. I was in math and found it personally rewarding, but my authority figures said it was worthless and so was I for pursuing it.
These are different experiences, and you aren't understanding perspective.
No, I am not better without schooling. You don't know me, and you don't speak for me.
I'm an adult and I understand the difference between school and education. I grew up before the internet age and I can find education in many, many different areas. I wanted and desired and pursued schooling, and felt good about myself while I did so. Other people took it away from me, and like you, said it was shitty and took up to much fucking time and wasn't worthwhile.
Step back and listen.
Neither of our authority figures knew what was correct for us as people, they were acting on their own feelings rather than recognition of who we actually were. They didn't have the skills to communicate what their opinions actually meant and how they were trying to educate us to be different than what they went through.
At the end of the day, I wish I had just done what I felt positive about instead of listening to them. There were parts of schooling I actively participated in and enjoyed, then was denied. THAT hampered my education, because it hampered my will. Their opinions didn't actually matter, but still shaped my life.

This is a sad reality for many of us, and for what it's worth, one can try to return to some of this kind of education, perhaps college, or similar challenging approahces, at a later time, when potentially possible. I appreciate that many of us don't have those opportunities. This is one reason I get more political as I get older, because I want people to have equal opportunities for advancement, especially at a young age.

I came here to say that - as much as I hate racism - this is hilarious. Then I read your comment, and it's no longer hilarious. Do you really have to insult people like that? What's the point?

As usual, you have absolutely no idea how to respond to anything, and thus hurl insults. What an embarrassment you must be to those who know you.

I have normal discussions with people every day, socks. I don't wear a mask, they don't wear a mask, and we talk about how fucked up the GovCorp is. The real world is nice. You should join it sometime.
