RIP those dank little treats

I'm going to miss them. I was going to make a vinegar flavored from them and some garlic as a condiment.

Martha we want your secrets and we want them now

Someone who would do this must have never grown or created anything in their life. Sad.

That sucks. I hope the thieves get the shits, badly.

Also an appropriate username lol

Hot peppers actually exert a slight constipating action on the bowels.

[–][deleted] 3 insightful - 2 fun3 insightful - 1 fun4 insightful - 2 fun -  (0 children)

They sure do give some hot poops though, depending on the pepper.

You shouldn't disclose your pepper garden on Saidit. The Deep State took them. How did they survive the storm you had anyway? Hopefully they're of the hot variety and will give massive heartburn to the thief. My sympathies.

I brought the pepper plant inside. Stayed in our bathroom during the freeze. Got my bolivian torch in too a little late, but it seems alive with a little damage. My aloe took a big hit but honestly the die off is good for it, it's so prolific. Every other plant Gizmo has already killed.

But I am hopeful for spring, he's not a kitten any more, so maybe I can have a nice little patio garden again. Some winter ones are already out, garlic and onion. Just supermarket leftovers I sprouted. Oh and some basil. I have tons of basil seeds from years past.

The peppers are very hot to my tastes but I don't go for superhots generally. Hopefully it's enough to give em hemorrhoids.

There's nothing more wholesome than eating the food you've grown. Don't let that incident deter you and keep on growing!

My sympathies. Next year put an electric fence around your plant and enjoy the fireworks.

How did they get to them?

[–][deleted] 5 insightful - 3 fun5 insightful - 2 fun6 insightful - 3 fun -  (2 children)

It's in a large planter outside my front door. Has the best light and it's safe from my cat. Gizmo killed all my others.

I'm assuming you live in a town or city (or apartment complex), and your front door is exposed to people on a sidewalk. Bummer. What kind of peppers are you growing?

At least you still have the plant, and can hopefully find a safer location for next season.

Yep, lots of people walk by my door every day. I had concerns about the plant itself being stolen so I got this big planter for it to discourage casual theft. I think they're Siling labuyo, but that's just my attempt at an id. I was given the peppers by a friend of the wife's and she didn't know. It has small, hot, fruity peppers that grow pointing upwards.

Someone stole my dad's grill a couple months ago. We've had it for ages and it doesn't exactly look super nice or anything. And turns out you can't buy a decent one in northern MN right now unless you spend a stupid amount of money because it's winter. Some people just have no common decency. I'd be worried about putting too much effort into a garden in the area I live in, though I do see people do it.

Hey Melody!

I totally feel ya. This has been making me think about my own grill that was stolen. I was just letting the coals cool and by the time I came out again it was gone. Different place than now, not as good economically but not bad, solid working class people but lots of immigrants too. Only place I ever had problems with the cops, they acted like they were policing the ghetto -- and I mean we're talking about neighborhoods with 200k homes, not Fifth Ward.

I guess, maybe I'd hope whoever stole your grill desperately needed it. Like whoever stole my peppers desperately needs a burning pain in their anus.

northern MN

You have such a cute accent!

One can only hope your thief received more than they bargained for.

I think I have a weird hybrid accent from living in so many places.

I've been wondering, what's the story behind your name? I'd suggest you text me, but maybe you're trying to hide me from your bf ;)

Was his name Peter Piper?

You could put a sign up saying something like "could whoever stole my peppers please return them. They are actually a rare deadly poisonous variety I was growing to kill rats."

Could it have been an animal?

Either way, I am sad for you.

[–][deleted] 5 insightful - 3 fun5 insightful - 2 fun6 insightful - 3 fun -  (2 children)

Possible. Birds had gotten a few, but the entire plant overnight makes me suspect humans. Birds also left partially uneaten peppers stumps behind.

[–]ah2020 3 insightful - 2 fun3 insightful - 1 fun4 insightful - 2 fun -  (1 child)

Got it, sounds more human to me. In which case what an absolute asshole.

A flaming arsehole.

[–][deleted] 4 insightful - 2 fun4 insightful - 1 fun5 insightful - 2 fun -  (2 children)

What kind of peppers was that. My condolences.

I grow peppers too.

[–][deleted] 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (1 child)

I think they're Siling labuyo but I'm not 100%. The woman I got the peppers from didn't know. I used to grow seranos too but my cat killed them all.

My favorite are the "Red Lava" Habaneros. They taste like black cherries and pure sunlight.
