Campers are missing out if they only experience nice weather. There's a primal excitement to storms, and rain showers lead to beautifully vibrant leaves and rapidly flowing waters that give a little extra oomph to the place. I love the warmth of hot cocoa and a cozy sleeping bag, sheltered from the elements but feeling it all around. Plus the shared suffering strengthening a bond when things go awry.

I remember when I was a kid: my parents took me and my brother camping and I woke up half submerged in water, because it rained all night. We had to go home, because it was starting to flood — and it did flood. Looking back, that probably contributed to my thalassophobia.

You are stronger for it, yes?

Eh, it wasn't a hardship, just a scary event. The worst thing that happened was that I got my clothes wet.
