Could just be steel support. A 'S' shaped steel support would have a base on the carpet under baldie's butt. Goes up the staff, through hairy's sleeve, then under his butt.

It's photoshopped, look at the outer lines of the top guy's outfit. It's a sloppy c&p job, you can see the sharp lines from it.

Thank you lmao, tbh, it was a main Wikipedia picture for street illusion or the illusions page, I forget, in high resolution (which I know is no excuse and in some ways worse), but for some reason I trusted it was real..
