Thanks for the info. Do you take anything for your back? I've had some luck with dextromethorphan, the cough medication, at therapeutic doses and not "robotripping." Ketamine is supposed to be even more effective but that's pricey here, also for no good reason since the stuff is also dirt cheap to make. Both are disassociatives and for some reason they seem to work on pain for some people. My issue is tolerance builds rapidly so it's maybe a week or two before it isn't helping. Still, it's something.

I'm trying for pain management in January. I have heard the horror stories but I gotta do something. There's a nuclear option though, if you're hurting they don't want to give you pain meds but if you say you're a heroin addict they'll do Buprenorphine. Shitty fucking thing to go on your record but if nothing else works....

Or there's TENs units and I make up a menthol spray that's stronger that what they sell. It's not fantastic but it helps me to at least try to do something for it. I have a short list of non narcotic pain meds too if you're interested. That's my plan A. Hopefully one of them works cause controlled meds are a real pain in the ass to deal with if you can even get them. I used to do that years ago but the $300 doctors visits and getting treated like a junky had me move to kratom, just after a few years it isn't really working like it used to.

Good. Please send the list of non-narcotic meds. I used to have sciatica but it migrated to L6. When I started telling the doc about my sciatica, he interrupted me and blurted, how do you know that word? I told him, hey, I went to college. He clearly thought I was BSing him. I just wish he had the pain we have. Some of the docs are complete assholes. All I can get is Tramadol. Tramadol. He prescribes Alprazolam 0.4 mg too. It's off-label for back pain but helps a little.

One thing you can get here that is legal is called a "blocking shot." They don't tell me what the chemical is but the doc injects it right into your spine. It is not pleasant but gives some good relief and so far has lasted a year.

I dare not go the black market route, even if I knew where, because this place is ultra-strict and I do not relish doing time which really could happen here even if my records showed a severe curvature of the spine, which is what I've got.

Have you tried asking your doc for Buprenorphine? I have read about it and addicts get no high from it but it helps pain. It's prescribed for withdrawal. I have never tried K and am certain no one here would prescribe it. Also don't know any source.

Disclaimer: If anyone is listening in, I want to say I am NOT doing anything illegal nor do I plan to in this country. When I mentioned GHB, that was when it was LEGAL here and everywhere, many years ago. Do I sound paranoid? It's because I am.

I hope you find some relief. What horror stories did you hear about "pain management"? Also, I do not what TENs are. Good luck.

I am so sick of that shit. They think their patients are idiots and yeah, they don't get what it's like or they wouldn't be so damned difficult.

I haven't tried Buprenorphine yet. I was on hydrocodone for a while then tramadol. I'd like to stick to non-narcotics if one of them works. Who knows, docs like to make you rule out everything first so it works out.

TENs units are little devices that you connect to electrodes where you feel pain and it shocks you. It does work for me as long as it's going but there's no lasting relief for me personally. They used to be expensive but you can get em real cheap online these days, mine cost $25.

What horror stories did you hear about "pain management"?

I know personally the expense, seeing them every damn month, and getting treated like you're trying to get high but these days I guess you need to be blood tested and anything illegal will cut off your meds, or false positives, or things like cbd flower that contain minuscule amounts of thc. They have quotas, a doctor prescribing too many controlled substances, and I mean total, triggers a DEA investigation and they can lose their ability to prescribe those kinds of meds. So they don't want to give you anything, and if they do, they only can do so much for all their patients. I guess besides that it's just people's tales of agonizing pain that gets ignored, and major surgery with nothing stronger that tylenol.

These are the ones I was going to ask the doc about, sorry it's a little disorganized, I just had it on a note on my phone.
Indometacin - NSAID
Orphenadrine (>100mg) - muscle relaxer
Pregabalin - nerve pain med
Ketamine nasal spray
ketoprofen/lidocaine/ketamine compound - this might be hard to find
High dose Baclofen - another muscle relaxer, also known for reducing alcohol cravings.

[Tried]
Ketoprofen (systematic review found more effective than ibuprofen and it did work great but it stops being effective quickly and is difficult to find - liver issues)
Diclofenac gel - Meh
Meloxicam - stomach pains
Torodor - Can't be taken long term
low dose Naltrexone - Messes with kratom/opiates
Gabapentin - didn't work

(Anti-depressant meds - these make me shake so I can't take them)

SNRI used for pain management Duloxetine
Tricyclic antidepressants used for pain management - amitriptyline, desipramine, nortriptyline

[Previously used non meds] Fish oil - it works slightly
cbd
